We had no joy last week when Rosy Lemon ran unplaced, a second blank weekend in a row. For this Saturday we have put together a perm for Jackpot which begins in Race 5.
Durbanville Jackpot 1 Saturday 26th August.
Race 5 is due off at 13.55, an open maiden and the favourite, Trippi's Silk has the form to win but I'm mindful of the weights here. Whilst it doesn't look a deep race if you look outside of the favourites it could be worth taking plenty of cover and we are including all of numbers 4-9 and looking for a result.
Race 6 looks a leg where we can get away with going short and (8) current 12/10 favourite Mothership is my idea of the likely winner. Although (5) Run Rudolph Run looks the main danger and some lightly raced horses offer scope for improvement going over a longer trip, the banker selection gets a 3.5kg sex allowance plus the services of Richard Fourie.
Race 7 looks a nightmare and we are taking the whole field with the exception of the roughie (no 6)
Race 8 is the last leg and hopefully we are still going and have a couple of longer priced winners in 2 of the previous legs. There is plenty to like about what (10) Candy Town has done in just 2 starts but given she now goes into handicap company and has drawn wide (along with many other horses prominent in the betting) we will play for a result and include 9 of the 11 runners.
