Our beloved Royal Victory was caught behind a wall of horses a crucial time last Sunday and unfortunately we had a blank weekend. As the saying goes …..That's Racing !!!!!
On to Turffontein on Saturday and having looked at the races which make up the first jackpot my thoughts were it looks so tricky we might be better looking for something early on, settle for a win bet and then watch the rugby.
Turffontein on Saturday 9th September, Race 3, Due off at 13:30
We race on the inside track on Saturday so the draw is of extra importance. Race 3, at the time of writing, has 1 scratching so as it stands 11 runners go to post in this MR 75 handicap over 1450m.
Brett Crawford sends out No 5 Sage King, your current favourite and he has the plum draw jumping from gate 1. Lightly raced for a 5 year old Sage King chalked up a second career win at the Vaal back on the 25th May over 1600m under Kabelo Matsunyane. He didn't return to action until 10th August, again at the Vaal over 1400m and given the break between runs, ran a decent enough 5th place, finishing just under 1.5 lengths back.
Sage King might well have needed that outing, Matsunyane is again on board and whilst the current odds of 24/10 are a little shorter than where we usually hunt, let's hope he gets the job done.
