csk2019We are heading towards the business end of the regular IPL season and Match 41 on Tuesday sees Chennai Super Kings host Sunrisers Hyderabad

Chennai Super Kings

The Super Kings were in action on Sunday away to the Royal Challengers Bangalore and they were edged out by a single run. RCB posted 161/7 batting first with Chahar (2/25) the pick of the Super Kings bowlers. CSK had a nightmare start to the chase, losing 4 wickets with just 28 runs on the board during the power play. MS Dhoni refused to throw in the towel, he smashed an unbeaten 84 including 7 maximums. CSK still needed 26 off the final over and Dhoni hit 24 off the first 5 balls before a run out off the last delivery.

CSK’s overall record now comprises of 7 wins and 3 defeats and they remain top of the log although a number of teams are snapping at their heels.

That loss at RCB was the fourth successive away fixture for the Super Kings who now return to home turf where they have won all 4 of their matches so far. RCB (7 wickets), Rajasthan Royals (8 runs), Kings XI (22 runs) and the Knight Riders (7 wickets) have all left Chennai empty handed this season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Sunrisers were also in action on Sunday. They hosted the Knight Riders in Hyderabad and they coasted to a 9 wicket win. KKR posted 159/8 batting first and not for the first time this season the chase became the Warner and Bairstow show. Warner hit 67 before he became the only Sunrisers wicket to fall and Bairstow finished unbeaten on 80 as SH got home with a full 5 overs to spare.

The Sunrisers now have an overall record of 5 wins and 4 defeats, they are 4 points shy of CSK but they have played 1 game fewer.

Away from home the Sunrisers have lost at KKR and the Kings XI (both by 6 wickets) but they did win at Delhi (5 wickets) in between those defeats. This is the first of 5 remaining matches for the Sunrisers and 4 of those games are away fixtures.

Head to Head

Matches 12, Sunrisers wins 3, Super Kings wins 9

The Super Kings went down by 6 wickets away to the Sunrisers in Match 33 last week. Despite a 79 run opening partnership by Watson (31) and du Plessis (45) CSK were restricted to 132/5 and the Sunrisers chased it down with 3.1 overs to spare with opening pair Warner (50) and Bairstow (61 not out) doing the damage.

In the play offs the Super Kings won by 2 wickets in Mumbai and when they met again in the final at the same ground CSK confirmed their dominance with an 8 wicket victory.

Betting Angle

The return to spin friendly Chennai is definitely in the favour of the Super Kings although the Sunrisers also have some very handy spin bowlers and the visitors are back in form. Conditions in Chennai are usually pretty difficult for batsmen and we side with the highest individual score being no more than 70 runs.

Bet: Highest Individual Score under 70.5 runs at 17/20
