Delhi came out decidedly second best in their top of the table clash away to Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday, going down by 80 runs. CSK posted 179/4 batting first and with the exception of Shreyas Iyer (44) the Capitals capitulated and they were bowled out for 99.

Rajasthan Royals have a record of 5 wins, 7 defeats and 1 no result from a rain hit match away to RCB on Tuesday. That was a source of frustration for the Royals who were still in with a shout of the play offs at the time. The Royals now need the Sunrisers to lose at Mumbai (Match 51 on Thursday) and at RCB in the match which follows this one, plus they would need to beat the Capitals here.
Prior to the rain affected game at RCB the Royals had won their 2 most recent matches, a 3 wicket victory at KKR followed by a 7 wicket win at home to the Sunrisers.
