England came through a must win game against New Zealand with a 20 run victory in Brisbane on Tuesday. Buttler smashed 73 in their bat first total of 179/6 and Sam Curran 2/26 and Woakes 2/33 helped them defend it.
Earlier England's clash with Australia was washed out. They started their tournament with a 5 wicket win over Afghanistan in Perth nd despite being overwhelming favourites for their game against Ireland they lost by 5 runs (DLS).

Last time out Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan by 6 wickets.
