ausodiIndia are 1-0 up on Australia with four to play as the teams head into the second One Day International which takes place in Nagpur on Tuesday.

This series started in Hyderabad on Saturday and India came through with a 6 wicket victory.

Australia won the toss and opted to bat first and Finch lasted just 3 balls before losing his wicket without scoring. Opening partner Khawaja did make 50 but that proved to be the visitors top individual score. Other contributions of significance came from the in-form Glenn Maxwell (40) and wicket keeper Alex Carey (36 not out) as the Australian innings closed on 236/7. Shami, Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav all took 2 wickets with Shami the most economical.

India lost Shikhar Dhawan to the first ball he faced but Rohit Sharma (37) and Virat Kohli (44) nudged their innings score towards 100. When they departed and Rayadu also went cheaply Australia looked to be back in the game but MS Dhoni (59) and Kedar Jadhav (81) took India home in 48.2 overs. Coulter Nile (2/46) and Zampa (2/49) where the only Australian bowlers to take wickets.

India hit 3 maximums to Australia’s 2 and Kedar Jadhav was named Man of the Match.

This was how the teams lined up in Hyderabad.

Verdict:

Australia will have to step up significantly on their display in the first match if they are to draw level in the series and we fancy their best hope with the bat is Khawaja.
