ausodiAustralia’s tour of India starts with a two match T20 International series and the first contest takes place in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

This tour is limited overs only with the T20’s followed by a 5 match ODI series. India were in Australia at the tail end of 2018 and a 3 match series in this format was shared 1-1 with 1 match washed out.

Let’s start with the squads.

India Squad: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni (WK), Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Vijay Shankar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Sidharth Kaul, Mayank Markande

Australia Squad: Aaron Finch (c), Pat Cummins, Alex Carey, Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Peter Handscomb, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Turner, Adam Zampa, D'Arcy Short

Recent Form

India were in New Zealand earlier this month and they won a 3 match T20 series 2-1, taking the first 2 matches by margins of 80 runs and 7 wickets before being edged out by 4 runs in what was a dead rubber. Prior to the 1-1 draw in Australia last year they beat WIndies 3-0 in a home series and on their tour of England in July they came away with a 2-1 win.

This will be Australia’s first T20 action since the 1-1 draw in India. Before that series Australia they lost a rain affected one off contest at home to South Africa and they also went down 3-0 to Pakistan in the UAE.

Head to Head

Overall the teams have met 18 times in this format with Australia winning 6 to India’s 11 with 1 no result

With home advantage India lead Australia 4-1

Verdict:

The ODI series to follow will be the priority for both sides in World Cup year but this is an opportunity for players to tune up.

Given the last time they met the series was drawn India could be considered a little short but we fancy they will sill hit more 4’s than the Aussies.

Suggested Bet: Most Match 4’s India at 8/10
