The Royals opened their account at the fourth time of asking with a 7 wicket home win over RCB on Tuesday. They overhauled RCB’s bat first total of 158/4 with just 1 ball to spare with Jos Buttler’s 59 the top score.
The Royals lost their first 3 matches so far although they would argue that 2 of those games should have ended in victory. In their third outing they came up 8 runs short of the Super Kings bat first total of 175/5 in Chennai. Rajasthan also lost out when chasing 185 for victory at home to the Kings XI by 14 runs after looking on course for victory. Match 8 was more clear cut as they went down by 5 wickets away to the Sunrisers.
Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR were in action on Friday away to the Royal Challengers Bangalore and they pulled off a sensational 5 wicket win. Chasing 206 for victory KKR were in trouble at 153/5 with 3 overs to go but Andre Russell smashed 48 off just 13 balls and the Knight Riders even got home with 5 balls to spare.
Russell is having an excellent tournament and he was also a big factor in earlier home wins over the Sunrisers (6 wickets) and the Kings XI (28 runs). KKR now have a record of 3 wins and 1 defeat and that sole loss came in a Super Over after a tie in Delhi last weekend.
