kxp2019There is just one more week to finalise the composition of the IPL play offs which makes Match 48 between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab on Monday a game of high stakes.

Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Sunrisers most recent action came away to the Royals on Saturday and they were beaten by 7 wickets. With Jonny Bairstow having left to join up with England, Kane Williamson (13) and Warner (37) opened the batting and Manish Pandey was top scorer with 61 in a bat first total of 160/8. The Royals had the chase under control from the start, putting on 78 for the first wicket and they got home pretty comfortably with 5 balls to spare.

The Sunrisers now have an overall record of 5 wins and 6 defeats and it promises to be a tense week in terms of their chances of making the play offs. In Hyderabad they have won 4 and lost 2 and this will be their final home game in the round robin stage.

Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI return to action after suffering a 17 run defeat away to RCB on Wednesday. That proved to be the wrong day to run into AB de Villiers who smashed 82 not out in RCB’s bat first total of 202/4. Kings Xi made a promising start to the chase and there were healthy contributions from the top 5 batsmen but once Pooran went for a top score of 46 they fell away, under pressure from some excellent death bowling.

That was a fourth defeat in the last 5 outings for KXP who now have 5 wins and 6 defeats against their name. Their only success in 6 away fixtures came against the Royals by a 14 run margin in Match 4.

Head to Head

Matches 13, Kings XI wins 4, Sunrisers wins 9

Betting Angle

These sides have an identical overall record but the Sunrisers have had more success on home turf whilst Kings XI have found wins hard to come by when they travel.

It still looks a tricky game to call and a chance is taken on no batsman scoring 69 runs or more.
