sh2019The first of Sunday’s matches in IPL 2019 sees Sunrisers Hyderabad host Royal Challengers Bangalore and the visitors are still looking for their first win of the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

This is the second home game in quick succession for the Sunrisers. They hosted Rajasthan Royals on Friday and they came through with a 5 wicket victory. David Warner top scored with 69 and Johnny Bairstow made 45 in an opening stand of 110 at more than 10 per over to help the Sunrisers overhaul the Royals bat first total of 198/2 with an over to spare.

Last season’s runners up had started their campaign away to the Knight Riders and a late KKR blitz saw them go down by 6 wickets. The Sunrisers batted first and posted a healthy total of 181/3 with David Warner top scoring with 85 on his return to action whilst Bairstow (39) and Vijay Shankar (40 not out) made healthy contributions. The Sunrisers had KKR in trouble at 118/4 in 15.3 overs but Andre Russell propelled the Knight Riders to victory.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers were involved in a thrilling game at home to Mumbai Indians on Thursday but they came up 6 runs short when chasing Mumbai’s bat first total of 187/8. Virat Kohli made 46 and AB de Villiers was 70 not out at the end but some excellent death bowling from Mumbai left RCB still looking to open their account.

RCB had lost their opening match by 7 wickets away to the Super Kings. They were all at sea against the CSK spinners, bowled out for just 70 in 17.1 overs and although CSK took their time in such a small chase, the result was never in doubt.

Head to Head

Matches 12, Sunrisers wins 6, RCB wins 5 plus 1 tie (Sunrisers won Super Over)

Last season the Sunrisers won by 5 runs in Hyderabad but the Royal Challengers took revenge with a 14 run victory on home turf.

Betting Angle

It’s just not happening for RCB right now and although the likes of Kohli and de Villiers can turn any game in their favour, the Sunrisers look like a very strong side. RCB’s wait for a first victory may well have to continue.
