titanst20Friday’s televised Momentum One Day Cup action sees the Titans host the Warriors at Willowmoore Park, Benoni and the home side are short priced favourites to strengthen their hand in the race for the play offs.

Titans:

The Titans come into the game in third place in the standings with a record of 3 wins and 2 defeats. They have also collected 2 bonus points and they are 4 points behind their opponents here with a game in hand whilst the Dolphins are also on the premises. With a healthy net run rate the Titans will go top if they win this and they have already had the better of the Warriors as recently as the 3rd March.

The teams met at St. Georges last weekend and the Titans smashed their way to 369 with Aiden Markram (139) and de Zorzi (99) putting on 234 for the first wicket. The Warriors made a reasonable fist of the chase but they came up 55 runs short with Chris Morris returning figures of 3/44 from his 9 overs.

Markram was also on fire in the Titans recent win at the Cobras and 300 plus totals seem to be no problem for this very strong batting line up.

Warriors:

The Warriors top the standings with a record of 4 wins, 1 defeat and 1 no result. The aforementioned loss to the Titans is their only blemish so far as they bid to retain the title they shared with the Dolphins last season. Away from home the Warriors are in tremendous form having beaten the Cobras in Paarl by 3 wickets, the Knights by 14 runs (DLS) in Kimberley and the Dolphins by 8 wickets (DLS) in Durban. No result was possible in their visit to the Lions and this is their final away fixture of the round robin stage.

Verdict:

The Warriors revel in the role of underdogs although having lost to the Titans in the first meeting where they had home advantage; they face a tough task here.

Preference is for the total 6’s market and this Titan’s batting line up could break the back of the 12 or more needed for this selection to arrive so hopefully the Warriors will also contribute.
