wembleyBrentford and Fulham bid to reach the Enlgish Premier League when they clash in the Play Off Final at Wembley on Tuesday.

Brentford

Brentford were the first team to clinch their place in the final, ditching Swansea 3-2 on aggregate. They overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit with a 3-1 home win, racing into a 3-0 lead on the night and the Swansea fightback came up short.

In the regular season Brentford finished third in the standings, missing out on automatic promotion by just 2 points after surprise defeats in their last 2 matches, at Stoke and at home to Barnsley. They had reeled off 8 straight wins prior to that, 7 of which came straight after the season was re-started.

Fulham

Fulham made it past Cardiff in their semi final. They took control in the first leg with a 2-0 win in Wales and although they lost the return 2-1 on the night, they also went throuh 3-2 on aggregate. Leading goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic missed both those games and his fitness will be assessed in the run up to this final.

In the regular season Fulham finished fourth in the standings, level on points with Brentford but with an inferior goal difference.

Head to Head

Brentford had completed a league double over Fulham in the regular season. They won their home game 1-0 in December and they took the return 2-0 at Craven Cottage as recently as the 20th June with 2 very late goals.

The Betting

In the early betting Brentford are 11/10 to win the game in 90 minutes with the draw at 9/4 and Fulham can be backed at 53/20. A game of 3 goals or more in total (regulation time) is 23/20 and its 9/10 for both sides to find the net.

To win promotion via any method Brentford are 5/10 and Fulham 14/10.

The Verdict.

The league table shows there is very little or nothing between the sides although Brentford had far more goals in them during the regular season.

It's the proverbial game of high stakes and my gut feel is there is a goal for both sides during 90 minutes, regardless of the team news.

90 minutes bets:

Both teams to score? (yes) at 9/10

Correct Score 1-1 at 19/4
