Goodforthegame Predictions:
Everton v Arsenal (Saturday 21st December)
Saturday's early kick off comes from Goodison Park and both Everton and Arsenal could potentially be under new management by matchday. Caretaker coach Duncan Ferguson oversaw a 3-1 home win over Chelsea 2 weeks ago and last week they came away from Old Trafford with a very useful point from a 1-1 draw. Everton now have 3 points worth of breathing space over the relegation zone.
Arsenal won their most recent road trip 3-1 at West Ham but they never got in a blow at home to Manchester City last weekend, putting in a really tame performance in a 3-0 defeat. Arsenal are in mid table and with serious work to do if they are to even threaten the top 4.
Everton won this fixture 1-0 last season whilst the Gunners were 2-0 winners when the teams met in London.
Prediction: Everton 2-1 Arsenal
Aston Villa v Southampton (Saturday 21st December)
Villa went down 2-0 at Sheffield United last week, they are level on points with their opponents here and only a better goal difference is keeping Villa out of the drop zone. That was a third straight defeat for Villa but 11 of their 15 points have been earned in front of their own supporters.
The Saints lost 1-0 at home to West Ham last time out whilst a recent road trip to Newcastle also ended in defeat (2-1). They have won twice on their travels, at Brighton and Sheffield early in the season in addition to picking up draws at the likes of Wolves and Arsenal.
Prediction: Villa 1-1 Southampton
Norwich v Wolves (Saturday 21st December)
Second bottom Norwich were one of last week's coupon busters, picking up a surprise draw from a visit to high flying Leicester. Their home record comprises of 2 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats and the big concern would be the number of goals they have conceded at Carrow Road, 20 in 8 matches.
Wolves 11 match unbeaten run ended when they lost 2-1 at home to Spurs last time out. They conceded in injury time of what was a excellent contest and they now bid to build on a away record which shows 2 wins, 5 draws and just the 1 defeat.
Prediction: Norwich 0-2 Wolves
Newcastle v Crystal Palace (Saturday 21st December)
Newcastle felt hard done by in going down 1-0 at Burnley in the previous round of matches. They return to St. James Park and since losing to Arsenal on the opening weekend Newcastle are unbeaten at home, winning 3 and drawing 4.
Palace played out a 1-1 draw at home to Brighton on Monday night to finish the round 1 point better off than Newcastle in a mid table position. They have some useful away form including 3 wins and 2 draws and they also won 1-0 on their visit to this ground last season.
Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 Palace
Man City v Leicester (Saturday 21st December)
This is the highlight on Saturday's coupon and City come into the game in third spot in the standings, 4 points behind Leicester and 14 adrift of Liverpool who are not in league action this weekend. City have been beaten twice at home this season including the Manchester derby earlier this month whilst Wolves have also won at the Etihad Stadium.
This is a huge test for Leicester but despite being held by lowly Norwich last time out they will arrive full of belief with 8 wins and 1 draw since their last defeat. That loss came at Liverpool (2-1) in early October and Leicester more than held their own in that game before conceding at the death. Their only other loss came at Manchester United and this game will tell us plenty about their chances of maintaining a title challenge.
City won the corresponding fixture last season 1-0 but they had lost 2-1 at Leicester earlier in the campaign.
Prediction: Man City 2-1 Leicester
Spurs v Chelsea (Sunday 22nd December)
Jose Mourinho takes on his former club in Sunday's later kick off which looks set to be a cracker. Spurs have won 4 and lost 1 of their 5 league outings under Mourinho although that 1 loss did come against another of his former sides, Manchester United. A 5-0 win over Burnley in their most recent home game was followed by a very decent 2-1 victory away to Wolves last week and Spurs have moved to within 3 points of their opponents here.
Although Chelsea were beaten 1-0 at home to Bournemouth last week they remain in fourth place in the standings. They have won 5 and lost 3 away from home and it's been entertainment all the way with Chelsea scoring 20 goals in their 8 road trips whilst conceding 17.
Spurs won this fixture 3-1 last season whilst Chelsea won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge and they also knocked Spurs out of the EFL Cup at the semi final stage.
Prediction: Spurs 3-1 Chelsea
