wolves1819A betting preview with tips for the English Premier League matches taking place on Sunday 1st March including Spurs v Wolves and Everton v Man United

Spurs v Wolves

Just 1 point separates Spurs, who finished the previous round of matches in sixth spot, from Wolves who were eighth and both clubs still have a top 4 finish in their sights. Spurs lost 2-1 at Chelsea last time out and their last home game saw them beaten 1-0 by RB Leipzig in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. They did beat Manchester City 2-0 in a recent Premier League home fixture but without the injured duo of Kane and Son they are short of options up front.

Wolves were in action on Thursday night and although they lost a Europa League tie at Espanyol they cruised through on aggregate. They put Norwich away 3-0 in a home fixture last weekend, a much needed 3 points after winning just 1 of the previous 7 league outings.

Earlier this season Spurs won the first meeting 2-1 thanks to an injury time winner. Wolves did beat Spurs 3-1 at Wembley in 2018/19 and the last 3 head to heads have seen both sides find the net in games of 3 goals or more in total.

Verdict:

I quite fancy Wolves here and although a Thursday night game would do their chances no favours they did rest a couple of key players for the trip to Espanyol. The visitors would still be a speculative play but with Spurs below strength right now this is a good time for Wolves to be facing them.

Everton v Man United

Everton's 5 match unbeaten run ended in a 3-2 defeat away to Arsenal last weekend and they finished the round in mid table, 5 points behind their opponents here. The trend in recent Everton games is for both sides to score, an outcome which has arrived in 7 of their last 8 league games and we have seen a total of at least 4 goals scored in each of the last 4.

United booked their place in the Europa League Round of 16 with a 5-0 home win over Club Brugge on Thursday and they are unbeaten in their last 7 games spanning all competitions. However only 3 of those were league matches including a 3-0 home win over Watford a week ago. Although they were 2-0 winners at Chelsea recently overall away form remains fairly average with 4 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats.

When the teams met at Old Trafford earlier this season the game finished all square at 1-1. At Goodison Park last season Everton thrashed United 4-0

Verdict:

I'm open minded about the match result but the trend of high scoring Everton games gets the vote to continue.
