everton1819A betting preview with tips for the English Premier League matches taking place on Sunday 23rd February including Wolves v Norwich, Man United v Watford and Arsenal v Everton

Wolves v Norwich

Wolves played out a 0-0 draw with Leicester in a home fixture last weekend, a third draw in 5 matches and the second in a row to finish without a goal. They finished the round in eighth place in the standings,5 points behind fourth placed Chelsea and 4 behind fifth placed Spurs. It's now just 1 win in the last 7 league matches but in midweek there was a really good display in the Europa League Round of 32 first leg at home to Espanyol which delivered a 4-0 win.

Norwich lost 1-0 at home to league leaders Liverpool last week and remain bottom of the table, 7 points from safety. They have won just 1 of the last 13 league games and away from home this season they have taken just 6 points from 13 matches.

Wolves were 2-1 winners when the teams met at Carrow Road in December and although Norwich have been keeping things reasonable tight of late, I fancy another game of 3 goals or more here.

Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 19/20

Man United v Watford

Manchester United have had a decent enough week, starting with a 2-0 win at Chelsea in a league game last Monday and on Thursday they drew 1-1 away to Club Brugge in the Europa League which makes them firm favourites to finish the job in the return. The win at Stamford Bridge saw United finish the round just 3 points behind Chelsea and 4 behind Spurs and given those 2 clubs meet each other on Saturday, this is a chance to reduce the gap even further.

Watford drew 1-1 at Brighton last time out and it's now 4 games without a win. They finished the round second from bottom although just 3 points behind Brighton who are fifteenth. Watford were 2-0 winners at home to United in December, the start of an impressive run (4 wins, 2 draws) which is now in danger of running out of steam.

I will go with United to come out on top but I expect Watford to be competitive so a home wn by a 1-0 or 2-1 scoreline is the play.

Verdict: Correct score United to win 1-0 @6/1

Correct score United to win 2-1 @15/2

Arsenal v Everton

Arsenal had been finding wins hard to come by under Mikel Arteta. The improvement in their overall performances turned into results over the last week or so as they thrashed Newcastle 4-0 in a league game and then beat Olympiakos 1-0 in Greece in the Europa League. Lacazette has found his scoring boots again but Arsenal still have a 7 point gap to fourth placed Chelsea to bridge and a whole host of other clubs are in the mix.

One of those teams is Everton who are 2 points better off than Arsenal. Since they crashed 5-2 at Liverpool in early December Everton have won 6, drawn 4 and lost 1 of the next 11 league games to climb the standings and challenge for European qualification places. The only recent league defeat came at Manchester City.

The first meeting this season ended 0-0 but both sides have improved since then as their respective new coaches have settled in. Both teams look very capable of winning this and for a bet I like the goals markets with 2-3 in total nicely priced at a shade of odds against.

Verdict: Total match goals 2-3 at 21/20
