Football ManCity120The battle to avoid relegation from the English Premier League takes centre stage on Tuesday night when Watford host Manchester City and Aston Villa clash with Arsenal.

Watford v Manchester City

Watford are fourth from bottom, 3 points clear of Aston Villa who are in action later on Tuesday night. With just 2 games remaining it seems strange that they parted company with manager Nigel Pearson on Sunday and the backroom staff with oversea the remainder of the season which concludes with a visit to Arsenal at the weekend.

Watford's outstanding result at home this season is the 3-0 win over Liverpool at the end of February. They also won their 2 most recent home games against

Noriwch and Newcastle but a 3-1 defeat at West Ham last time out cost Pearson his job.

City can finish no higher or lower than second position and after they lost 2-0 to Arsenal in the FA Cup semi finals at the weekend, the Champions League, which looks set to resume next month, is the primary focus. City did Watford a favour last week when they were 2-1 winners at home to Bournemouth who look set to take the drop with Norwich whilst in their most recent road trip they demolished Brighton 5-0.

Aston Villa v Arsenal

By the time they take to the field Villa will know how Watford got on but this is a must win game either way. Villa also have a handicap in terms of goal difference right now as they are 4 worse off than Watford in that department and it's possible that defeat here could send them down ahead of Sunday's visit to West Ham. There has been improvement in their last 2 matches, a 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace and a 1-1 draw at Everton where Villa conceded late on.

The Gunners semi final win over Manchester City was another big step in the right direction and victory here will move them up a couple more places. Defeat in the North London derby recently ended their remote hopes of a late charge into the top 4 although they bounced back to beat Liverpool 2-1 in a home fixture and they are clearly in good shape.

Tuesday Night Bets.

I see plenty of scope for goals in both the above matches and an over 2.5 goal double can currently be backed at around 13/10.
