Football Liverpool120The penultimate round of English Premier League matches concludes on Wednesday when Manchester United host West Ham and Liverpool take on Chelsea.

Manchester United v West Ham

Wednesday night is all about the race to finish in the top 4 and qualify for the Champions League next season and as it stands United look well placed. Although they are fifth at the moment only goal difference is keeping them below Leicester who they will meet at the weekend in what promises to be a tense final day. This is United's game in hand and should they win it, they could even finish the day in third if Chelsea lose at Anfield.

There was disappointment at the weekend when United were beaten by 3-1 by Chelsea in the FA Cup semi final but league form has been terrific, unbeaten in the last 12 and the goals have been flowing.

West Ham look as good as safe and that will be confirmed if Aston Villa fail to beat Arsenal a day before this game takes place. Even then the Hammers goal difference should stand them in good stead after back to back wins at Norwich and at home to Watford.

Liverpool v Chelsea

Liverpool remain on 93 points after a below par display saw them beaten 2-1 at Arsenal a week ago. That was just a third defeat of the season but their second since the restart whilst a perfect home record of 17 wins was dented when Burnley held out for a 1-1 draw in the most recent match at Anfield.

Chelsea must refocus after the surprisingly comfortable victory in the FA Cup semi final. They have a home game against Wolves still to come but if they can win this one they will seal third place. There has been the odd blip in their recent results including a 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United recently.

Liverpool won the first league meeting between the teams 2-1 back in September although Chelsea did knock a weakened Liverpool side out of the FA Cup with a 2-0 home win in early March.

Wednesday Night Bets.

As was the case with Tuesday night I see plenty of scope for goals in both the above matches and my double is over 2.5 goals in the Man United v West Ham game and 2-3 in total at Anfield.

Double: Man Utd v West Ham over 2.5 goals / Liverpool v Chelsea 2-3 goals in total at around 2/1.
