Football Liverpool120The English Premier League 2019/20 season gets underway on 9th August when last season's runners up Liverpool host newly promoted Norwich City.

Liverpool:

Liverpool finished just 1 point shy of Manchester City in a title race that went went to the wire last season. They were unbeaten at Anfield with 17 wins alongside 2 draws and although they finished as runners up there was more than adequate compensation with victory over Spurs in the Champions League final. Mo Salah and Sadio Mane both scored 22 league goals last season and Firmino weighed in with 12. With betting markets available for “assists” these day it's worth noting the Liverpool full backs were productive in that area with Robertson contributing 11 and Alexander-Arnold 12.

At the time of writing there is little in the way of headline arrivals whilst players heading out include Danny Ings, Alberto Moreno, Daniel Sturridge and Simon Mignolet.

Pre season started slowly with defeats to Dortmund, Sevilla and Napoli before things picked up and most recently Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw with Manchetser City in the Community Shield although City went on to win on penalty kicks.

As far as the betting to win the title is concerned this is how Sportingbet have it priced up right now.

If you fancy a repeat of last season with Manchester City winning the title and Liverpool finishing as runners up the odds of reward are 1.75/1 whilst Liverpool to win and City to finish second is trading at around 3/1.

Mo Salah is a 5/1 chance to finish as top goalscorer in the Premier League and Sadio Mane is 11/1 in the same market.

Norwich City:

Norwich are back in the top flight after winning the Championship title last season, finishing 5 points clear of Sheffield United. They scored 93 goals and conceded 57 across the marathon 46 games and their football under coach Daniel Farke was easy on the eye.

A number of players have arrived for undisclosed fees although there are no marquee signings to date. By and large it looks like the same group of players who won promotion will be backed to make the step up including Teemu Pukki who top scored in the Championship last season with 29 goals.

The most recent pre-season matches comprised of a 4-1 defeat to Atalanta and 1-0 win over Toulouse.

Relevant Outright Betting Markets

Betway currently have Norwich as an odds shot to be relegated, the same firm go 3.75/1 for the Canaries to finish rock bottom but they are 5/10 favoutites to finish higher in the standings than Sheffield United.

Liverpool v Norwich Betting.

As far as the betting for this opening match is concerned Hollywoodbets currently have Liverpool as 2/13 favourites to win the game with the draw at 15/2 and Norwich can be backed at 14/1. Liverpool are 9/20 to win by a margin of at least 2 clear goals and Klopp's side are 7/10 to find the net at least 3 times and 13/20 to keep a clean sheet

Verdict:

It's a one sided betting heat to start the new Premier League season and it's hard to make a case for a surprise but for a speculative interest I will go with the multiscores option of Liverpool to win 2-1, 3-1 or 4-1 which can be backed at around 31/10.
