NewcastleSJPOur featured English Premier League match taking place on Saturday sees Arsenal take their unbeaten league record to Newcastle.

Newcastle

Newcastle led twice through Wilson but were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at Wolves in their latest league outing last weekend. They now have a record of 5 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats and come into the weekend in sixth spot, 9 points off the pace set by Spurs. Home form in the EPL comprises of 4 wins and 1 defeat with Liverpool's 2-1 victory here early in the season breaking the trend.

In midweek Newcastle were 3-0 winners away to Manchester United in the EFL Cup to book a quarter final trip to Chelsea. After this Newcastle are in UCL action when they go to Dortmund who beat them in a recent home game and given they have been missing a few players through injury their team news will be worth keeping an eye on.

Arsenal

Arsenal remain unbeaten in the EPL this season with 7 wins and 3 draws and they are in second spot, ahead of Manchester City on goal difference and 2 points off the pace being set by Spurs who host Chelsea on Monday night. Nketiah scored a hat trick in a 5-0 demolition of Sheffield United at the Emirates last weekend and their 4 EPL road trips this season have delivered 3 wins and a 2-2 draw at Chelsea.

In midweek a much changed but still pretty strong Arsenal line up lost 3-1 at West Ham in the EFL Cup. Their only other defeat this season came in the Champions League, 2-1 at Lens but they did win 2 other group matches and look well set to progress to the knockout rounds.

Recent Head to Head

This fixture finished 2-0 to Arsenal last season after the teams had played out a 0-0 draw at the Emirates

The Betting

At the time of writing Newcastle are trading at 18/10 to win the game with the draw priced at 23/10 and Arsenal can be backed at around 1.53/1

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 19/20 and it's 15/20 for both teams to score

Callum Wilson is 56/10 to score the first goal of the game and 19/10 to score anytime

Eddie Nketiah is 79/10 to score the first goal of the game and 11/4 to score anytime

The Verdict:

I'm not sure how much, if anything, should be read into the contrasting fortunes in the League Cup in midweek although all credit to Newcastle for their win given they have been pretty stretched in recent weeks.

All of Arsenal's dropped points in the league this season came in 2-2 draws in London derby matches. They head North this weekend but in my opinion the price for a draw here makes most appeal of the 3 possible match result outcomes and if pushed for a correct score pick I'd go with 1-1 .

If I'm right there that doesn't leave much scope for goalscorer involvement but for additional interest Anthony Gordon is the any time pick

Bets: Match result draw at 23/10 with BoyleSports.

Anytime goalscorer Anthony Gordon at 3.55/1 with BoyleSports.
