Group B Betting Update

Shop around for the best prices but as a guide Belgium are the favourites to top this quartet at around 8/11 with Denmark next best at 9/4, Russia 5/1 and Finland

are trading at around 22/1. To make it out of the group Russia are roughly 4/10 and Finland can be backed at around 5/2.

Belgium

In qualifying for these finals Belgium topped their group with a perfect 10 wins from 10 and they were 6 points clear of Russia, their opponents here, with Scotland third and Cyprus, Kazakhstan and San Marino making up the numbers. Belgium scored a whopping 40 goals and conceded just 3.

Belgium's World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign comprises of a 3-1 home win over Wales, a 1-1 draw in Czech Republic and an 8-0 demolition of Belarus.

In a couple of recent warm ups Belgium drew 1-1 with Greece and beat Croatia 1-0.

Belgium’s odds to win the tournament are around 13/2, just a shade bigger than those of France and England.

Russia

Although Russia lost both group qualifiers to Belgium, 3-1 away and 4-1 at home, they won all their other 8 matches, conceding just 1 goal in the process.

World Cup 2022 qualifying started with a 3-1 win in Malta and 2-1 home victory over Slovenia followed by a 2-1 defeat in Slovakia.

The most notable recent friendly matches saw Russia draw 1-1 with Poland and they beat Bulgaria 1-0.

In the outright betting to win the tournament Russia are trading at around 175/1

The Betting

Belgium are trading at around 0.72/1 to win the game with the draw at 28/10 and Russia can be backed at around 28/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at even money and it's the same price for both teams to score.

The Verdict:

There was clear daylight between these sides in the qualifiers and although Saint Petersburg is the venue and it's the first action of the tournament for both sides, I'm struggling to see any reason why Belgium shouldn't chalk up a win.

I'll go with Belgium to come out on top in game of at least 2 goals in total.
