Georgia

Georgia went down 43-14 to Wales in their first action of the tournament. Their fate was effectively sealed in the first half with Wales scoring 29 unanswered points. There was encouragement after the break with Georgia scoring 2 tries through Shalva Mamukashvili, Levan Chilachava but they still fell just short of a pre-match handicap that had been set at around 27.5 points.

Going back to RWC 2015 Georgia won 2 and lost 2 of their pool matches with the victories coming against the 2 supposed weaker nations they faced, Tonga (17-10) and Namibia (17-16) .

Uruguay

In RWC 2015 Uruguay lost all their pool matches, scoring a total of just 30 points and conceding 226 and 4 years on they were given a start of around 28.5 points on the handicap for opening game against Fiji on Wednesday.

Uruguay made a mockery of the handicap quote in winning the game 30-27, a result which was hailed as the finest in their history. They led 24-12 at half time with 3 tries coming from Arata, Diana and Cat, all converted by Berchesi who also kicked 3 penalties. Uruguay were more than a converted try in front when Fiji scored a consolation on the hooter.

Despite Uruguay's heroics against Fiji they are still likely to need to upset either Wales or Australia in future pool matches and you can get anything from 33/1 to 50/1 about them securing a place in the knockout rounds.

Betting Angle

Uruguay were really impressive in their opener and they have not made many changes. They have a short turnaround time though and I think this and the fact that Georgia will play a more structured game than Fiji will see them fade in the 2nd half. I am backing Georgia to win the 2nd half by 8 or more points

Bet: 3 units Georgia 2nd half handicap at 1.88/1 at Sunbet
