Race 1

Nine unraced juveniles go to the post here and is always the case in these type of races, the betting market could be the best guide as to the chances of each runner. BLOW IN THE WIND from the powerful Justin Snaith yard with stable jockey Grant van Niekerk in the saddle could be the one to side with. She jumps from gate six which will do her chances no harm.

SORCERESS SUPREME hails from the Crawford/Rix training partnership with Richard Fourie in the irons.

WHISTLE THE TUNE represents the Glen Kotzen/Raymond Danielson combination and should not be overlooked.

Race 2

TRIPPI’S SILK is seldom far off the action, finishing sixth last time out, but just 2.5 lengths behind the winner over a mile. He drops back to six furlongs, which may suit him better at this stage of his career.

PRINCE OF TIBET raced handy when ending up in fourth-place last time out over a mile, 3.65 lengths back from the victor. He also drops back to the six-furlong sprint, which may suit him better.

BABYLON from the visiting Janse van Vuuren yard with Gavin Lerena up has his first run in Cape Town, but has not made the trip down south for the view. If fully settled into his new environment, he may prove good enough to win this contest.

Race 3

KAAPSE KLOPSE has finished second in his last two starts, the latest over 1250m at the country track, just a half-length back from the winner. He raced wide that day, but stayed on well over the closing stages. Richard Fourie retains the ride, which is encouraging.

RUN FOR ME showed plenty of toe when ending up in fifth place in his latest outing over seven furlongs, 2.6 lengths off the winner and on that effort, he is sure to appreciate the drop in distance.

NIGHT BOMBER is lightly raced, only having had the three runs to date, finishing sixth last time out, but just two lengths behind the winner. Another honest run from the gelding is expected.

Race 4

QHAWEKAZI has consistent formlines to her name, finishing second twice and third once in her three runs to date. Her jockey dropped the reins when finishing second in her latest outing over seven furlongs, just 0.75 lengths back from the winner. She will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but she will be looking to go one better today.

TWO A PENNY is seldom far off the winner, having finished fourth last time out over a mile, 1.8 lengths behind the victor. She was only run out of it late and should turn in another honest performance here.

GIMMETHELIMELIGHT showed plenty of pace when finishing third in her latest start over 1250m, 0.9 lengths behind the winner and steps up to the mile for the first time, but she may well be looking for this sort of journey. Her handy gate two will be in her favour.

Race 5

OCTOBER MORN is a three-time winner from seven starts and finished 0.3 lengths behind the winner last time out over five furlongs, but she had to be switched at the 300m mark, costing herself valuable ground. With better luck in running, she could prove hard to topple.

KWINTA’S LIGHT followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a third-place finish next time out over today’s sprint trip, 1.75 lengths back from the winner, but she too had to be switched in the running. She has her second run after a rest and is drawn one inside the top pick.

She renews her rivalry with KISS ME CAPTAIN who won the race last time out and as the pair meet on the same weight terms, there should not be much separating them when they hit the line, but the former is preferred as she will hopefully get a clear passage in running today. T

Race 6

CHARLES DICKENS needs no introduction and won his comeback run over seven furlongs in workmanlike fashion. He has won three of his four starts over this mile journey and could chalk up his tenth career victory here.

His biggest danger could come from SEE IT AGAIN who also won his comeback run, but in his case over a mile and by 1.1 lengths. He did hang in over the closing stages but won a little easier than the margin suggests. He has a handy draw two and should come on further with this run under the belt.

PRINCESS CALLA is a 6-year-old mare taking on the boys but she challenged strongly when finishing second last out over 1250m, just 0.3 lengths back from the victor. She is a versitile sort who should give the males a good run for their money.

Race 7

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. RASCOVA went from jump to wire to win her last start over seven furlongs by 3.5 lengths when returning from a rest. She was not stopping that day and should have no issue with the step up in distance.

DOUBLE GRAND SLAM finished second to the top pick last time out and as the pair meet on the same weight terms today, she may well battle to turn the tables on her conqueror. She has cracked pole position and could enjoy the step up in distance.

MRS GERIATRIX raced wide and was cramped at the 250m mark when finishing fifth in the same race as the top duo, finishing 5.6 lengths off the victor. She had won her previous six outings on the trot and she should relish the chance of putting the record straight and bouncing back to winning ways today. Her wide draw thirteen is not in her favour though.

Race 8

FLOWER OF SAIGON is a 6-year-old mare taking on males, but she has won two of her last three starts, the latest over twelve furlongs by one length. She finished off her race well that day and should not have a problem with going the extra distance.

ARAGOSTA from the raiding Mike De Kock yard jumped awkwardly and had to be steadied at the 500m mark when finishing seventh last time out in the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup, 4.15 lengths behind the winner, so that effort was encouraging. The gelding has his first run on the track, but should be a big runner here.

ONE WAY TRAFFIC was bumped when finishing third last time out over twelve furlongs, 4.3 lengths back from the winner. He has finished second over this C&D and from gate two, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 9

YAMADORI has consistent formlines to his credit, winning his penultimate start over 1250m and then having to switch at the 300m mark when finishing fourth last time out over five furlongs, 3.2 lengths behind the winner. He retains the services of Grant van Niekerk and will be hoping to record his third career victory today.

VELDSKOEN is another with consistent form to his name and stayed on well when ending up in third spot last time out over 1250m, just 1.3 lengths back from the winner. From draw seven, he should produce another honest performance today.

USA’S HOPE stayed on when finishing sixth in his last run over 1250m, 3 lengths adrift of the victor when returning from a rest. The gelding should not be too far off the action when they reach the finishing post.

Race 10

LADY LOOK ALIKE is a winner of two of her first five runs, the latest by 0.2 lengths last time out over 1250m. She showed plenty of early gate speed that day and then just lasted over the latter stages to claim victory. She could complete a quick double.

THE CHARLESTON has finished fourth in her last two starts, the latest over 1250m, 2.15 lengths behind the winner. She has her second run after a rest and should be fitter after that last outing. MISS

GREENLIGHT did not quite see out the seven furlongs last time out ending up in sixth-place, 3.5 lengths behind the winner and should appreciate the drop in trip. She gets Richard Fourie up and should be involved in the finish
