Friday's Uefa Champions League quarter final action is a blockbuster clash between Barcelona and Bayern Munich and we look to the goals markets for a bet.
Barcelona
Barca are unbeaten in this competition this season and in the Round of 16 they came through with a 4-2 aggregate win over Napoli which included a 3-1 home victory in the second leg last week.
Barca breezed through the group stage stage with 4 wins and 2 draws to finish ahead of Dortmund, Inter and Slavia Prague. In the outright betting to win the Champions League this season Barca are trading at around 17/2. Last season Barca made it all the way to an unbelievable UCL semi final against Liverpool which they led 3-0 after the first leg but subsequently lost 4-3 on aggregate.
Barca finished as runners up in La Liga, 5 points behind Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich
Bayern boast a 100% record in the Champions League this season and the goals have been flowing. They have found the net 31 times in 8 UCL matches including a 7-1 aggregate win over Chelsea in the Round of 16.
Bayern cruised through their group with a 100% record to finish well clear of Spurs with Olympiakos and Red Star the also rans. Bayern also coasted to the Bundesliga title and recently won the DFB Pokal, beating Leverkusen 4-2 in the final.
Bayern are trading at around 11/2 to win the Champions League title. They didn't get past the Round of 16 last season drawing the first leg of their clash with Liverpool 0-0 at Anfield and losing the return 3-1 in Munich.
Head to Head
The teams haven't met since the 2015 semi finals when Barca won the first leg 3-0 and Bayern took the return 3-2.
The Betting
Barca can be backed at around 5/2 to win in 90 minutes with the draw available at 57/20 and you should find odds of around even money for Bayern to win in regulation time.
As far as the goals markets are concerned it's 5/10 for both sides to find the net in 90 minutes and the same price for a game of 3 goals or more in total.
Verdict:
Let's hope that conditions are a bit cooler than they have been of late as this should be a cracking game. Bayern have been scoring goals as they please and whilst this is probably their toughest test to date, I don't see that changing. I take the view that Barca can also contribute so both sides to score in a game of at least 3 goals in total gets my vote.
