SUPER RUGBY AU – The Final

The Australian competition finally comes to a close on Saturday. The Brumbies will be hosting the Reds in this once-off tournament held in COVID-times.

Brumbies vs Reds – Saturday 19 Sep @ 11:20, Canberra

It was widely expected that the Brumbies would dominate the local competition in this re-worked Australian tournament. In the end the Canberra based outfit were able to top the table, there was however two losses along the way and the Brumbies arguably never really hit their stride quite as expected. With a frontrow of Scott Sio, Folau Fanga’a and Allan Alaalatoa packing down and the luxury of James Slipper off the bench they can certainly boast with an impressive platform. Add the explosive power of Pete Samu off the back of this base and you get a dangerous pack. Behind this they have the Tom’s – Wright & Banks – as well as the K-Train Kuridrani waiting to be unleashed. On paper these Brumbies look seriously impressive with the experience of Nic White ready to come off the pine and finish things off.

The Reds have had a few slippery moments along the way in their campaign. Having to squeak past the Force at Suncorp wouldn’t have impressed coach Thorne and they never pitched up for duty when they shipped 45 against the Tahs. That being said the Reds come into the final off the back of four victories on the trot which included a 50-point demolition job against the Force as well as a rather comprehensive 26-7 result over their final opponents a fort night ago.

The Brumbies have shown they aren’t quite able to perform to the sum of their parts whilst the Reds are a plucky young bunch. I expect the visitors to push the home side all the way. Yet despite not having a big vocal home crowd to call on these Brumbies are a side who know how to get the job done on their own patch. I’m expecting a narrow home victory in the final.

BETOLIMP BEST BETS

Brumbies to win by 1-7 points @ 3.54

HT/FT Winning Margin – Brumbies (1-8) / Brumbies (1-12) @ 6.80

Wincast: Folau Fainga’a to score the first try and Brumbies to win @ 18.00

Anytime Tryscorer – Liam Wright @ 6.60

A nice and tight final is what I’m expecting and the Brumbies to start things off with that dominant maul of theirs. We have one last chance to back the tryscoring freak of a hooker that is Fainga’a and I’m not missing out! Lastly if there is one man who won’t give up the fight until the very end for the visitors it will be their skipper, Liam Wright. Get one meat pie to end the comp son.
