Super Rugby Quarters, Currie Cup Week 14, 9-11 June

A bit shell shocked this Sunday morning after my worst weekend in terms of strike rate in living memory.

There were 2 things that saved me from a break enforcing loss

Firstly 2 of my bigger plays being unders in the Blues game and the Newsletter Best Bet ( Click here to join the battle against the bookmakers) Bulls over 3.5 1st half tries arrived but I also had big losses on The Rebels and then pretty much lost on each game bar the Crusaders half time cap which was a small play

Secondly I tweeted that when things started going wrong I didn't do what I would have done years back and that was chase my losses. Had I done so it would have been terminal and I will take that as a positive out of the weekend. It was a bad one make no mistake but I showed discipline amongst the carnage and am ready to fight another day

Playoff rugby returns this weekend with the Super Rugby Quarters and we also have the final round of Currie Cup action - here are my predicted caps and I see some Super Rugby up already so will compare straight away

Super Rugby - bookie in brackets quoted on home team

Blues -19.5 v Waratahs (_18.5)
Chiefs -19.5 v Reds (-18.5)
Crusaders -21.5 v Drua (-17.5)
Brumbies -2.5 v Hurricanes (+0.5)

Main difference in the Crusaders cap and I had Brumbies slight favs in Canberra

Currie Cup
Griffons +22.5 v Lions - a dead rubber basically although Lions could go 4th for a while (assuming points diff is the tiebreaker)
Griquas -6.5 v Pumas - Griquas must win, Pumas could yet miss out
Bulls -9.5 v Free State - a win sees Bulls through but FS need win to go top and put pressure on Sharks
WP +6.5 v Sharks - WP may have nothing to play for, Sharks may also if Cheetahs lose so be careful with this one

Cheers and have a good week

Went with Tahs +19.5 and Under 7.5 tries. I think they will kick penalties to shied away from playing total points.

the bookies only take a 5 to 7% handling charge - to pay the fella that won in Ekurhuleni or wherever

If you pay more than 5% you should change your bookie

So Griquas is at -3.5.

Alcaraz is also at -3.5.

In my wine sipping affected thinking, I thought it's too much of a similarity, so I took the double

Griquas + Alcaraz @2.30

I found Lions Over 6.5 tries @ 10/11
Was counting my money after 4 tries in first half.
Then they start kicking penalties?
FFS!

There may be value in early Currie Cup matches but I cannot get a read on form.

This will make or break my weekend - considering a small hedge to ensure a profit but man it is not in my nature - going to let her ride (for now) and hope for a tight match

Regards previous gme when Drua got that intercept gift I feared the worst - Crusaders D was brilliant though

It's a horrendous competition. All these teams would get hammered by the top European sides, Leinster, La Rochelle, Toulouse etc. Waste of time betting on it
Same way with that Currie Cup it's the biggest pile of rubbish ever
