International rugby is back and the Rugby Championship kicks off this weekend

A reminder we have a seperate thread for the u20 World Championship

The betting has been out for some time and here are the current outright and Matchday 1 prices at Betxchange

Outright
New Zealand 0.72/1
South Africa 37/20
Australia 6/1
Argentina 25/1

This is a shortened RC because of the RWC

SA play Aus and Argentina at home
New Zealand play only SA at home
Australia play Argentina and New Zealand at home
Argentina play New Zealand at home

I am going to give this more thought but believe Australia could be the value at 6/1

Matchday 1
SA -7.5 v Australia
Argentina +13.5 v New Zealand

We will be back with The Handicap on Thursday night and will also have a special u20 World Cup edition on Monday night

I thought I was not feeling well and that was the reason I was liking Aus overall, but glad to see not only me.

I have taken some of the 13/2 overall.

I think Australia have quietly built up some depth the last year or 2. If you look at their A squad for game against Tonga this weekend, there are some decent players in there and some great up and coming young talent. I still feel with a kind side of draw at RWC they are the value play in France later this year.

I agree

Not enough value for me in the 4 betting front runners. Red cards will have more impact than previous WC's so a couple of poor tackles could see a favourite go out.

Some value in Aus at 8/1 or 9/1

*Aus should prob have beaten us in Dublin last November

Here's another amazing offer, this time from from Betfred- -

place an online bet of R100 or more at betfred.co.za on any Rugby Championship match and receive R500 in Bonus Funds to pick the winner of the global showpiece later this year.

and this is not a "free bet" - if your bet wins, you get the stake back as well

can't imagine the 4 unmentionables coming up with an offer like this (they been the 1st 4 to boycott me )

Gone for a ML double - a couple of beers only on
Australia x Argentina
About 19/1

Argentina have 19 players back from T14 so playing at a high level.
Question is if Cheika can bring them up to speed with limited time

Aus over 21.5 is fire. EJ will come in hot and I think both teams can score points - which I very much expect and am leaning towards overs at 52. Hodge at 12 is a handbrake but the bench can bring some fireworks. I fully expect Boks to win here but I can foresee a 32-27 final score line! A line of over 57.5 @ 2.6 seems value.

Credit to Crowe for this one - Highest scoring half being 2nd half @ 1.8

My weekend cheeky - Aus +15.5 & Arg +15.5 @ 2.3

Might also have a slight feeling about NZ under 33.5

u20 multi for Sunday - Italy & France & Georgia @ 2

Over(s) and out.

Only once in 9 H2H games in Argentina did this line lose, way back in 2012.

As much as NZ side missing a few key players, I feel Argentina missing more and prep sounds like it’s not been as smooth as one would like. I don’t like the Pumas side on paper and prefer All Blacks with bulk of squad having had some good rugby in recent weeks.

NZ over 32.5 @ 5/6

Have to agree with you. Not a fan of the team selected either but Argentina prob come into this one way more underdone. Argentina are still a rocks or diamonds team and if they throw out a rock NZ comfortably covers that handicap. I don't think this is the spot to fade NZ. I'm starting to see -11.5 @ $1.86 can't get anything on there though. Ill target -11.5/-12.5 and NZ Overs.

I really like Australia over 20.5 best bet for me.

I've been preaching that the WC is a 1 horse race and that the Boks will win the WC for a long time, but I've actually under estimated how good the Boks actually are. They can just cancel the WC, give the trophy to the Boks and save everyone's time. Crazy how good the Boks are.

Everyone having a go at Australia is so wrong imo. They are not allowed to play by the Boks. Boks are insanely good.

Yes true Hanrick, but that doesn't explain the numerous unforced errors.
Yes pressure leads to mistakes but not kicking out on full, throwing forward passes, and rank discipline
Will Skeleton was a wrecking ball nuisance for La Rochelle but little influence today.
A lost punt, but very happy for Jean Kleyn. Thought he went very well at that crucial time when SA were establishing dominance.
Picking the 5? SA WC Locks will be a tough gig

Couple from the U20's

Italy and Fiji get first go on the Paarl ground so conditions should be good. Expect a lovely crisp cold winters day and points

Match points over 57.5 @ 19/20

Have watched some matches and not able to see why baby blacks are firm favorites against Australia. Pretty much a choice match would be my take

Win
Australia/Ireland/France @ 9/2
