I see WSPee have priced up the next round. NMU's backs did indeed look potent at times but that team's struggles at the set piece will more than likely continue. This is a promotion/relegtion year and CUT will treat this game as their final. I think giving CUT 19.5 points at home is a bit ludicrous.

Looking at those caps I like Shimlas -4.5 at home to Wits and also leaning Pukke -10.5 away to Ikeys

No real view on Maties v Tuks - Tuks have been awful but 22.5 is a fair old start

Will do a proper write up when more bookies are out with caps but agree with Shaft CUT are going to have to be awful to lose by more than 19 points to NMMU, think they have a shot at winning it personally. Can't see the +19.5 or 7/1 lasting too long, I capped the game at +5.

See another bookie or two are out so I'll give my thoughts.

CUT NMMU - Was really unimpressed by NMMU last week. In their new stadium with massive support behind them they were on the back foot virtually the whole game and only a couple phases that led to tries were anything to write home about. Haven't seen CUT play this season and their results haven't been inspiring but they will be at home for the first time this season and this looks like the game for last spot on the log so they'll be up for it. You never know which CUT will rock up but I capped the game at +5 so i think there's value. NMMU did beat CUT by 26 points last season away but they also went away to UCT and hammered them by 28 so I don't think they are the same team as before.

SHIMLAS WITS - This is a tricky one, both teams beat Tuks and then their other game wasn't inspiring. Shimlas got hammered last week by the best team in the comp and Wits only just beat a UCT team that I don't consider to be that great barring their scrum. Handicap spot on for me but will be watching this game carefully for future weeks.

UCT PUKKE - UCT i think have surprised teams with their forward pack in the last two weeks but their backline has been very poor. I think the secret is out now and I'm sure Pukke have been working very hard in the scrums. If Pukke can match them in the scrums I think UCT will get beat comfortably, UCT have scored 2 pushover tries in the last two weeks and if you take those away then their results don't look so good. Fancy Pukke to cover the minus but i capped the game at -12.5 and hard to read into their game with CUT.

MATIES TUKS - Maties will win this game and I think they can beat the handicap but I can't be taking -22.5 against Tuks, yes they have been rubbish but they still have quality players that will click eventually. Will be a great game to watch and would love to see Tuks get a massive carrot.

Only one bet to start off with:
CUT +19.5 and a small nibble at CUT 7/1
Will punt Pukke -10 if the CUT NMMU game is close before kickoff, will give a good indication of how good the Pukke and UCT wins were vs each team for me.

WSb usually 1st out, Sportingbet also quite early - on the day most books price up

Most books only price up the Varsity Cup on the Monday at lunch time. But WSB and Sportingbet are out earlier this year.

Have taken Maties -19.5 at 5/6. Reckon that handicap is 10 to 15 points light.

Had a pretty good week last week until the wheels fell off big time on Sunday's footie
Hanrick's probably right on Tuks. I just have difficulty believing they are as crap as they look so will skip that and go for

Shimla's win by 1-12 @ 17/10 ( Look evenly matched so factoring home advantage )
Madibaz win by 1-12 @ 26/10 ( Madibaz probably better than that but it's CUT's only chance for a win so expect 100% from them )

Both CUT and NMMU are rubbish, result could be anything at the end of this game. Taking NWU-10.5 vs UCT

This is hands down the worst game of rugby I've ever watched. Chaos everywhere.

UCT leading 5 - 3.

Try Varsity Cup Twitter for updates, although not too regular.

Wasn't a single second in that game I thought CUT would hold on but I'll take that any day of the week (B)

Thanx.... need to know that score as soon as game ends. Took double with Maties. Both on the minus. So will need to know if i should cover. But with Maties scoring twice now, i guess Pukke -8.5 will decide my fate

Great tip, took -12.5 now on halftime. Maties should have a red though, so lucky to be still in this.

Prayed for TUKS to go into HT with a lead hoping for a smaller minus handicap on Maties. Emptied my account when it arrived at -11.5.

No problem. Also on Pukke -10.5, but it seems as if they are going to lose this match with 10 min to go. handicap def out of the equation.

Heard UCT's first try was a pushover, thought Pukke would've done a bit of work in anticipation for UCT's forward pack but obviously not so they'll be lucky to win there. Wits look to be getting a hiding at Shimlas too. Means Maties title to lose this year unless a team like Tuks can come right. NMMU hopeless and CUT will get a few more hidings this season. Underestimated UCT this season, they look to have improved quite a bit and forwards coach should be commended. Bookies will struggle again with handicaps I think next week and could be some more value.

Tuks played very well there, got greedy after the CUT win and got involved in more games than I should've but something clicked with that Tuks team, they still have some quality individuals and can see them winning every game from now till the end of the group stages. Think the final will be repeat of this game.

Saw a whatsapp that Hawies Fourie (Maties coach) sent someone this morning where he says 8 of the Maties players had gastro and the no. 12 was still on a drip 15:00 yesterday. Would have been nice to have that info prior to the game, but explains the poor showing from Maties. Nevertheless, that's me done with VC for the year.

The hospital should be investigated for what they put in their drips...!! That number 12 was all over the shop - bashing in at the side of rucks and soeking for trouble all over the park. I was seriously counting the minutes till he got binned, or bliksemed by someone (his own team mates was not completely out of the question).
