I wish you well with that as i got a quid on at 40/1 (since cut to 25/1) and backed him at 5/1 anytime (also trimmed).

6 Nations wasn't a happy hunting ground for me tonight. I've backed Wales to win the 2nd half at 11/5 and the Ireland/Wales double result at 13/1 tomorrow, both with 888.

Read something regarding Wales having the better of the second half in their games against Ireland and about the latter not doing too well after the break against elite opposition generally, these prices look reasonable to me.

Scotland haven’t scored a try against England at Murrayfield since 2004.
Even money Scotland under 1.5 tries looks a solid bet to me.

Great stat! I'm on Scotland under 18.5 points, have to go back to the year 2000 to find them score more points than that vs England at Murrayfield

Brumbies to win was at 0.8 just before the try at WSB. I hope someone else managed to get it.

*edit*

Now after the try you'll probably be able to get it again. I'm sure the Sunwolves will tire in the second half. I hope.

Wow just catching up and its great to see the forum buzzing again and some international newbies adding to the mix. I have been hectic at work, so much so I forgot to pay Brent and am out the Superbru comp - apologies Brent I think this is the first that I have missed in years.

I haven't been able to do research this year so will limit my comments at this stage to the local teams. I wasn't impressed with the Stormers and think that their travels will be painful to watch this year, The Lions surprised me, I have to acknowledge a far better performance than what was expected, but I remain unconvinced that we will have a repeat of the last two seasons. It was heartening to see the apparent team spirit under "no ace" Swys, but I for one will continue to oppose them on the handicap until further notice. The scrum was magnificent last week and I will be interested to see how we fare against the Haguares before I pronounce this unit as mighty. As good as what the scrum was, the lineout was a shocker and hopefully this has been improved upon. Jantjies was Jantjies and its time that alternatives were looked at, he is just too much of a unknown factor and is totally unreliable. Please god he never wears a Bok shirt again. Some key players were quiet, Whiteley, Mostert and Vorster in particular.

The biggest surprise was seeing +14,5 on the Bulls at fortress Loftus. Buurman van Zyl would be turning in his grave at the news. From what I am reading and hearing, the players are happy with Mitchell, and I am one of the apparent few left that rate this Kiwi as a proper coach. The Lions debacle revolved around personalities and bible politics and I was disappointed to lose him when he got fired. This Bulls tean seems to be on the up and I am all over them at home on the handicap.

My plays

Bulls on the plus
Haguares on the plus ( I recall a very lucky victory at Ellis last year when we enjoyed a similar line )
Waratahs on the minus

As you go through life it’s a long, long road. There’ll be joys and sorrows too

If someone taught Robbie Robinson how to execute a clearance kick it would be game over at half time. Been charged down 3 times, two of which led of tries. If he can sort that out, with the wind in the second half I think the Brumbies could struggle. Hope the Waratahs are a bit decent because the rest of the Aussie teams look awful.

South, I hear you about the Crusaders being slow starters, but for me that was 10 years ago and I don't hold that believe anymore.

I've always held the believe that coaching is everthing in rugby. I rate Razor Robertson very highly as a coach and see him as a future All Black coach. I don't rate Colin Cooper at all and expect the Chiefs to struggle this year. Also, the Chiefs most dangerous weapon was D-Mac at fullback. Him playing at 10 is even more reason for me to oppose them.

Crusaders -6.5 at 9/10 and Crusaders over 27.5 points ay 9/10

Only had a small nibble on the Wolves during the game having missed the start , thankfully the penalty at the end got me over the line . Against the grain slightly in the next and going unders at 52.5 in The crusader game . Also a small be on the minus Crusaders at 6.5

My rest of the day action is as follows :

Initially I liked the Stormers on the plus , overall pretty tight between the two and the visitors have a decent record in Sydney. However I wasn't too impressed by them in CT and I do like the look of the Waratahs starting 15. Having said the Tah's were woeful last year and it's likely Darryl Gibson the coach is way outa his depth. I'll probably take a watching brief and a bet during running.

later on I'm also leaning towards but large plusses . The jaguars played well in Jhb last season and if they make up some of those missed tackles and slightly reduce their penalty contribution I think they can almost win it.

Lastly the Bulls have to be backed on the plus . However it will be my smallest play of the day as the Cane's have the ability to put them to the sword and let's not forget they are the dumbest side in the comp.

In Ireland I'm on Wales plus 10.5 from early , tough game obviously and Wales will be very confident . However Ireland without setting the comp alight just yet leads me to feel that they have some improvement to come. They will however feel the loss of Furlong and Henderson.

In Scotland I'm def going on the unders total and also like the Scottish unders . The English like the Irish have been ok , but I feel here they'll strangle the life outa the Scots.

Lastly I feel the Cheetahs need to be supported in the market. generally plus 3.5 .

Fair points hanrick and know you rate Razor highly and called him out early in his coaching career.

My betting interest in this game dead thanks to Brumbies and gave back some of yesterday’s winnings. Am 3/3 on that sportingbet competition so need Chiefs plus for that.

Both ok at next best 6/4 or 11/5. I don't think either should be that big against today's opponents.

Find myself in an Irish pub while the wife is out shopping. Have to keep things interesting.
Jags +15.5, pre-match cap and I see its now around 20.5
Took now at HT Jags over 19.5 points, just need Peyper to ref this like a neutral and I’m in with a shout,

Ireland v Wales, no try before 13 minutes 8/10. Just think they might feel each other out first and with the points line on the low side this could be a runner.

Bulls v Hurricanes, over 8.5 tries 11/10. 9 tries is load full but all indications are that this will be an open game and I really hope the Bulls have to play catch up and things get loose.

Never had a bet in that Lions game but really feel Peyper had a shocker , he' been one of the better ref's and I hope he's not becoming one of those "Gods" on the pitch.

For all that the jag's looked quite unfit to me and besides the altitude might well imrove alot as the season progresses.

Next up it seems quite divided . I'll stick to me initial guns and stay with the Bulls but only for smalls.

Called the Bulls game COMPLETELY wrong!!

Bulls staying within the cap is not something I had entirely dismissed so my biggest interest was on tries and points in this one. Honestly didn’t see a 21-19 scoreline coming at all! One result undoing most of the good of the rest of the weekend...

Good weekend for me. Could have been great if the Hurricanes played along but not bad at all. And it's always nice to see a South African team winning.

lol pretty sure no one backed the bulls to win

Except me!!

Maybe take me to the funny farm :silly: , but there's a minus 46 handicap in tomorrow's Rugby League Challenge Cup that could be a shoe in  .

West Wales Raiders have a baptism of fire away at Bradford Bulls for whom coach John Kear has picked a strong squad. West Wales Raiders is yet another attempt to nurture rugby league in Wales. Their philosophy is to be as much of a community club as possible with players drawn locally. They will inevitable struggle to make any initial impact in their inaugural season. Reportedly half a dozen of their players are currently in Australia with the national side in the Commonwealth Championships, and they also picked up key injuries in a recent pre-season game when they were humbled at London Skolars.

The handicap -46 is available with Ladbrokes and -50 is also very acceptable in my book with skybet. The usual 10/11 price.

My main bets this weekend are on the Six Nations. I've just watched the Oracle's previews and I appear to be opposing all of his plays :silly:

As posted last week got on Italy +22 before the line moved, following Brunel dropping 8 of the squad. (Including Teddy Thomas, who has scored all of France's tries in the tournament).
Just can't see the French being very cohesive - not a word I'd associate with a settled French team in recent years, yet alone one with a number of changes.

Got Wales +12 at the start of last week - I think its perhaps the best bet of the weekend. I note it has drifted into + 7 or +8 now, largely off the back of Furlong & Henderson being ruled out.
Also got some Wales to win @ 5.3, I think they have a real chance to do a number on the Irish.

Oracle do you genuinely think the Jocks will win the tournament?! Trust you've climbed into some of the outright if so, which is as much as 67/1
Personally think England -6 is great value. Agree they haven't set the world on fire in an attacking sense, but I firmly believe their pack will have far too much power for the Scots - after Ford and Farrell put them in the right areas of the park.
I can see a comfortable victory for the English of perhaps 10 - 15 points.

No huge punts on Super Rugby just yet, but I have had a small go on the Canes -13 @ evens.
Appear to me in the minority with this, but just feel its a good time for them to be playing the Bulls - fresh and not travel weary.

Also gone with Highlanders win by 11-20. More of a hunch than anything and a bit speculative, especially when you look at previous winning margins. (Highlanders have won their last 5 home games vs the Blues by 3, 10, 8, 6, & 4 points).

Best of luck gentlemen!!!

Shot @Bad Breath Yip I do believe they are runners to win the tournament, obviously they need to win the game v England and beat Ireland, so yes at 66/1 its about right. I cannot see England beating them.

And welcome to all of the new guys, I second the comment and say its great to see so many new forum users!!

Thank you again to both Brent & Chris for such a great website and platform!!

Credit where it is due - it is certainly due here for calling the Jocks result, well done Oracle! Do hope you did get on at 67/1, I see they are now trading at 14/1 to win the tournament.
Didn't see that coming at all, England completely outplayed - in particular their back row who were absolutely nowhere!
It hurt financially, but the significant upside for me was seeing Eddie Jones squirming in the post match interview.

With you guys on the Rebels and managed to grab -3.5 before the line shifted. Dave Wessels worked wonders with the Force last season and I think the Rebels will challenge for the conference win this season.

Like the team the Sunwolves have picked and with Jamie Josephs as coach I think they'll have a good season. I'm a big Robbie Robinson fan, although I'm not sure of him at 10. Would have liked Yu Tamura there. Is he injured or has he left the Sunwolves? I seen Hayden Parker is the back-up 10. Nevertheless, I like the team picked and rate the coach so have taken Sunwolves +19.5

With Oracle on the Bulls. This handicap should be half the current line. Don't rate Ihaia West and think Mitchell would have drilled the Bulls in off season. Have taken Bulls +15.5

My last fancy on the handicaps is in the six nations. With Warren Gatland back, Wales is a whole different team. Ireland have been good, but with Biggar, Williams and Halfpenny back I can't believe the handicap is double figures. I have taken Wales +10.5

Full house! Nicely done Hanrick
