This year we have a host of the top players in good form including Tiger Woods - it should be a brilliant tournament and the cream usually rises to the top here
We are running a SuperBru comp and will confirm prizes in the week
Link: www.superbru.com/themasters/pool.php?p=11830063
Pool name: Goodforthegame
Pool code: papasham
And now my 1st bet
John Rahm win at 22/1 Sportingbet - made a promising debut last year and has improved since - I see he is shorter elsewhere so want to take the price now

The last two winners of the Masters also won the Dubai Desert Classic - Willet in 2016 and Garcia in 2017. This years winner was Hao-tong Li.
Henley in his three appearances has gone 31/21/11/?
The most talented player I ever saw play live ( have seen Nicklaus,Player,Trevino - unfortunately not Tiger) was Bobby Cole. He was the youngest player to ever make the cut at the Masters in 1967 at 18 years - a record which stood for around 46 years. As he was an amateur it is probably why I have always taken an interest in the amateurs and now we can bet on top amateur
From "The Crows Nest" a Texas Longhorn who has played the course around 10 times and was taken around by a fellow Longhorn - Spieth.
Top Am Ghim @ 33/10
(or if you can still bet at WSB 7/2 )

Top picks I probably think Spieth 10/1 and Mickelson 18/1.
Others I also wouldnt scoff at are DJ 11/1,Matsuyama 35/1,Rory 10/1 and Rose 14/1.
But those odds would just cut my total stake too much,so im looking for the surprise:
Casey - 22/1
Stenson - 40/1
Cantlay - 75/1
Berger - 90/1
Finau - 90/1
C'Bello - 100/1
That Henley option doesnt seem bad either,Vann. With that history, 175/1 looks generous.
Will look for some exotics tomorrow.

SA Group
Grace is not course suited, first time out for Frittelli and Immelman has probably only made one cut in his last 50 outings so a straight shoot out between Louis and Charles which makes the 7/4 and 11/4 attractive on what is virtually a match bet. My choice
Charles @ 11/4
German Group
Only two contenders Kaymer and Langer. Kaymer is carrying a wrist injury and may or may not start which means either a winning bet or funds returned - just the kind I like
Langer @ 16/10
Top Debutant
Rather a large group this and one I would normally avoid but, for me the Masters is all about approach to the green ie getting the ball in the right place on the green. Kizzire's stats on the tour this year are GIR 10th and Proximity to the Pin 27th - exactly what is required to succeed at the Masters.
Kizzire @ 17/2

Will follow Vann in the german group,as Langer could probably beat a healthy Kaymer at Augusta.
Top German Langer - 16/10
And then I just had some fun with players who didnt make my final picks, but could have a fast start.
First round leader:
Oosthuizen - 45/1
Aphibarnrat - 66/1
Perez - 100/1

Spieth 1.5 unit WIN 14/1 (all funded by a free bet)
Rose 0.75 units E/W 1-8 14/1
Mickleson 0.75 units E/W 1-10 16/1
Bubba 0.75 units E/W 1-10 20/1
Noren 1 units E/W 1-10 40/1 (Probably went in a little heavy on this after getting excited watching him in the matchplay last week)
Aphibarnrat 0.75 units E/W 1-10 80/1
Stanley 0.1 units E/W 1-8 250/1
A couple of top 10s for any of the top 4 will see me fund the bets, or a single place from the final three which would put me in profit. Had a good few weeks in rugby betting so thought I'd spend a bit more on golf this week seeing as it is The Masters!
Good luck all! Some similar selections across the forum, so let's hope Spieth brings it home with Rose, Bubba and Aphibarnrat not far behind...

SkyBet go 1/5 the odds for 10 places which I think is generous. Others are offering 5 or 6 places with 1/4 the odds but I always prefer taking the extra places with the expense of a smaller return, especially in such a competitive field where there could be plenty of tied finishes in and around the top 10.

That is just fantastic. I would take just one bet on the Masters on that basis. Spieth 14/1 at 1/5 for top 10 ie Spieth 28/10 for a top 10 place - To quote RB - GoldenNortherner wrote:

Actually dislocated his ankle and just popped it back... I wouldve been cripple for a month.
X-rays came back clean, but he'll have an MRI this morning. If that looks fine and the swelling is under control,he will play.
Ugh,how mad he must be at himself.

I also had some nervous moments as emptied my WSB account on Reed at 1/7 with 2 to play and very nearly regretted it
A great tournament to watch

Such a great tournament to watch, fair play to Reed, holed so many clutch putts in that round. Thought he’d gone into the water half way through the back 9 which would have made it an even more thrilling finale!
