Hi Lads ,

Was a small loser going into this mornings Reds game and climbed into the unders at 44.5 ... 10-0 at HT , I recorded the second half and just finished watching the carnage .. 3 tries in the last 10 minutes killed me and ensured the dogs got baked beans for supper.

Here are my early caps

Canes plus 2.5 vs Crusaders
Tahs minus 35.5 vs Wolves Sorry meant to be 25.5 typo .
Blues minus 3.5 vs Stormers
Reds minus 4.5 vs Rebels
Shark minus 5.5 vs Bull
Jag plus 4.5 vs Chiefs.

COUCH CRITICS WTF MOMENT

The WTF moment of the week started at just after 3pm on Saturday and ended just before 5pm. For this entire period the Bulls were nothing more than mere spectators against the bottom ranked Kiwi team traveling to Loftus to take them on in their own back yard. The home side had the week off before this clash and clearly most of the Bulls were still mentally in ESKOM mode – completely switched off!

My WTF moment started early in Sydney and also lasted the full eighty minutes. In one game Crusaders dropped off more tackles and dropped more ball than the entire first five rounds - ESKOM mode - completely switched off.

Bulls must have watched this game prior to Loftus and thought that if this was top ranked Kiwi rugby, all they had to do was turn up to beat the Chiefs.

These two Eskom mode results decimated my rugby multis.

I have added actual lines for TAB NZ to the very right.

Canes plus 2.5 vs Crusaders (+5.5) +8.5 (+1.5)
Tahs minus 35.5 vs Wolves (-15.5) -18.5 (-13.5)
Blues minus 3.5 vs Stormers (-9.5) -10.5 (-6.5)
Reds minus 4.5 vs Rebels (-5.5) -2.5 (+2.5)
Shark minus 5.5 vs Bull (-4.5) -5.5 (-2.5)
Jag plus 4.5 vs Chiefs (+2.5) +6.5 (+2.5)

I see some value in the Jags plus as Retallick and DMack on AB rest.

I see value in Reds +2.5 as home game and Rebels traveling back from tough tour of SA.

Dmac got permission to play an extra game but Brodie is definitely out.

Du Toit is heading back to Cape Town as his wife is due to give birth, huge loss. He made 30 tackles against The Canes. Etzebeth likely to be back but depth will be tested with Shickerling and Moerat likely out.

Thanks davo, I thought there was a five game rule. Found you were correct on stuff.co.nz

"McKenzie sat out the opening round with an ankle niggle, but the Bulls game would be his fifth on the trot. However, the dynamic play maker said he would also be suiting up for the Argentinian leg of the tour".

at first glance looks a really tricky set of fixtures, and who's being rested, who returns playing havoc with any early punts.

At this stage Blues on smallest minus would be my early bet but want to confirm Rieko is not being given week off.

I took a pasting on the weekend, with Crusaders and Bulls not bothering to show up.

Reds got me partially back on track yesterday, and I can see them winning again this weekend.

Reds +4 @ 1.91
Smaller bet on Reds win @ 2.3

And speculative acca @ 10.1
Crusaders win
Waratahs -13
Blues win
Reds +4

Is it just me or does the Waratahs -13 look very low? Considering they are off the back of a big win v the crusaders and the sunwolves took another beating at home to the Lions who arent exactly world beaters this season? Personally would have thought the handicap should have been low 20s and although Waratahs will likely rotate, They should win by 20 plus regardless...Large stake on -13 from me

alanmc wrote "Is it just me or does the Waratahs -13 look very low? "

Fox Sports advise "It’s believed that the Waratahs, who are coming off a potentially season defining win over the Crusaders on Saturday, will rest a number of their Test stars for Friday night’s match against the Sunwolves in Newcastle, including regular playmaker Bernard Foley.

World class fullback Israel Folau is another who could be rested, as the Waratahs look to fulfil their commitment of managing their star players in 2019"

Waratahs were not that good last week. Saders were shocking. If they rest Hooper as well they are a much lesser team. Suggest it is best to wait on team lists for this match.

Rumblings here are that AB Captain, Kearin Read will make first appearance for Saders v Canes. First 50 mins or off the bench? Anyhow (any) Saders pack too strong for Canes and early bet goes on Saders -1.5, 4 out of 5. Never seen two bad Sader games in a row.

Thanks for the heads up on the potential of Tahs resting players lads. I might not get chance to revisit this preview later in week as I'm on holiday but taking a flyer on Tahs -12.5 0.93 at BetWay. I'm speculating Tahs will still see this as a bonus point opportunity in what is becoming a tight conference but waiting for line ups is probably a better way to play this one.

This is a tough weekend of punting with no standout plays so will target some points lines.

I like Saders -2.5. I hate backing an away team but they Saders never lose two in a row. Mo'unga returning is huge.

Sharks -2.5. Sharks at home will be looking forward to welcoming a Bulls side that got blown off the park last weekend.

Tentative play on Wolves +20.5 due to form.

Jags +6.5. Jags with a rest and looks like no Brodie for the travelling Chiefs.

Best bet of the weekend: Saders -2.5
Value bet of the weekend: Sharks -6.5 @2.6

I agree with you on this, took the same bet earlier this week.

No questioning Munster's European pedigree which is outstanding, but you feel away from Thomond Park they are not quite the same team.
Key Munster players like Murray & O'Mahoney not in great form and Edinburgh's set piece firing, think Edinburgh have a great chance to progress.

Also like (to a lesser extent) Glasgow +15 vs Saracens.
These 2 teams hate each other and can see it being very niggly.

After a losing weekend I’m a bit wary of this weekends fixtures as they look very hard to call .

Sadly I won’t be able to watch any of Friday’s games but will be having an interest on the Crusaders outright and waratahs minus 13.5 double .

Just a little concerned about the Tahs playing at some obscure ground in Newcastle , NSW .. but if the 10 is any good they really should run away with it .

After 4 weeks of break following the French bad beat, decided to give a go this week end and see if the curse is still on

Tonight in Pro D2 - Aix vs Nevers - 2 offensive team, perfect weather in France and the cut is low vs French bookie (47.5).
Therefore giving it a go

My bets are...

Reds on the board
Waratahs minus, I have taken minus 22 at 16/10 and minus 28 at 33/10

I reckon the Waratahs smash the sunwolves.

Sharks although have a bad record I expect to beat a low on confidence bulls team

Another “bad beat” last night with the game ending up with 40 points, few missed opportunities, penalties not attempted but will give it another go tonight

Bourg en Bresse x Biarritz @ 1.96
Bourg en Bresse HT/FT x Biarritz HT/Ft @ 3.40

Aurillac and Oyonnax are doing quite a huge turnover so can see those team winning at home

Going to stick with the Stormer plus 4.5 as my main bet in this fixture , might get involved if there is a bigger plus in running as well . Later on liked reds a lot early in the week but beginning to swing towards the rebels so will be looking at either outright or the best minus , I know it rained a lot during the week leading up to the fixture as I was there on Tuesday / Wednesday but the points line looks quite low but will leave alone .
Beginning to like the bulls later on , def on the plus and looking at an unders play as well .
