Struggling to find anything in the outrights at the moment, would perhaps lean Senegal to win the tournament with Guinea a roughie but no involvement as yet and will see if anything mkes more appeal whilst working my way through the opening group matches.

Friday, Egypt v Zimbabwe preview

Poor betting heat but gut feel is Zim might just have a goal in them , speculative call on btts yes at 2.84/1 with Betway

I'm having difficulty finding full draw details on AFCON. Got A/B/C/D play the four 3rd placed teams and E/F play runners-up from D/E but no clarity as to which side of the draw the teams are. Come across any site that has this detail Chris?

Initial fancy is the 15/4 Tunisia Top 3 but need the draw to pull the trigger.

Morocco (-1) handicap vs Namibia @ a shade over 11/10 with Sunbet

Morocco are coached by Herve Renard which is a seasoned coach in AFCON history winning the title with both Zambia and Ivory Coast.

Good team with experience and youth being spearheaded by Ajax youngster Hakim Ziyech that had a great season with Ajax. They'll target the Namibian minnows as a must win game for their remaining matches being against Ivory Coast and South Africa.

I'm hoping this link to Soccerway will help Vann, they don't number the matches in the last 16 but I assume they go in running / date order and if so Brent's saying of 10 Professors might help you fathom it out. If I come across anything clearer I will let you know. I really dislike how these tournaments have evolved where the best 3rd place finishers get in the knockout rounds.

Nigeria v Burundi and Guinea v Madagascar preview

goodforthegame.co.za/AFCON-2019/afcon-gr...ea-v-madagascar.html

I will be cautious but settled with Nigeria over 1.5 goals at 7/10, short on inspiration in that one tbh
I prefer Guinea over 1.5 goals in their game at a bigger price of 17/20. .

Thanks for the link above Mackem. I have cooled on Tunisia looking at their draw. Found this which may help punters

Just click on Knock Out Phases

I make Egypt and Senegal on the same side of the draw. Would really help if could pick winner of Group D who look to have an easy ride into the semi's (Don't really rate Algeria's chances)

Group Winners Treble
Egypt/Nigeria/Senegal @ 24/10
Winner e/w Based mostly on best manager (And thanks Matador)
Morocco @ 10/1
and one I like based on the draw
To make the last eight
Uganda @ 8/1
Foot Note - Based on living in Africa and watching many of these sides over the years you get any draw odds of over 2/1 - unless it's a total mismatch - take them.

goodforthegame.co.za/AFCON-2019/afcon-20...onday-24th-june.html

Tunisia v Angola - not keen on this game but for the purposes of making a call will go half time draw at 21/20

Mali v Mauritania, a test of my theory here, Mauritania strong in their own country in qualifiers etc.. pretty poor when they travel, Mali look good to me at 8/10 though not suggesting anyone empty out. Mali could win this group imo and go pretty deep.

Sunday with cricket burbling in the background thought I might provide a small insight into the difference between African and European footie for any punters just starting out and some of our rugby board punters who seem to have done extremely well recently and are looking for new markets.
I believe the main difference is the mind set. In Europe the main ambition is to win the match but in Africa it is generally not to lose the match. This has an effect on the overall stats for eg
AFCON 2017 - There were 32 matches
Draws 12
Matches won by a single goal 12
Bigger wins 8
and the ever popular 2.5 match goals
Under 2.5 - 22
Over 2.5 - 10
To place this in context. World cups run around 50/50 on the 2.5 line (eg 2018 was 33/31).
Picks for today. Namibia scored 5 goals in qualifying - all in the second half. Four of Senegal's last five wins have been by one goal. Kenya have not trailed at half time in their last seven matches.
Morocco v Namibia
Namibia highest scoring half - second @ 73/20
Senegal v Tanzania
Senegal to win by one goal exactly @ 23/10
Algeria v Kenya
Half Time/Full Time - Draw/Algeria @ 31/10

Thanks Vann, most useful heads up. I'd say especially relevant in these first matches which are do not lose affairs. This ridiculous 4 x 3rd place finish positions doesn't make life any easier. On the one hand, more nations taking part, more minnows involved which hasn't been the case before so could up the goals tally. On the other hand, lose your first game and in the past you would be more inclined to chase the second match. Not so now, you can wait till the third game and go for broke as 3 points could be enough if your stats are good.

Another factor might be the pitches. Have only seen highlights but the playing surfaces being used in Egypt look ok,at least for now, I've seen some shocking surfaces in AFCON finals over the years.

Always feel if matches are virtually guaranteed to be low scoring one should be able to make a few bets. Just has not been the case. This tournament has been doubly frustrating in that I picked the only over 2.5 match goals game but could still not make the bet. The early match today is my second choice for the overs market.
Ivory Coast v SA
Match goals over 2.5 @ 16/10

Yep. Senegal probably get Uganda and Egypt a 3rd place qualifier and can only meet in the final if the groups play out as expected. Problem is Senegal just looked rubbish with Mane back. He is the big star and, quite frankly, buggers up the team. He took all the set pieces - very badly - spent the match calling instructions to team mates and throwing himself to the ground on at least two occasions when there was a goal scoring opportunity. It's one of those situations you sometimes find in footie where the inclusion of your big star makes the team worse and, based on last nights performance, I am very pleased I waited for his return before pulling the trigger on tournament out rights. I don't see them getting past Ivory Coast and Nigeria on that side of the draw with Mane in the side.
Initial pick from that side would be Ivory Coast. Certainly would not discount Algeria's chances on the Egypt side of the draw.

What I have noticed thus far at AFCON is a marked difference in some sides performances (both better and worse ) as opposed to a few qualifying matches I watched over the past year. Possibly some of today's odds are based on historic performances? I capped Mali as slight favorites over Tunisia - around 5/4 - but I see they are out at 22/10. All of the teams have now played a match and I felt Namibia were probably the worst side. It took a late own goal for Morocco to beat them and I capped Ivory Coast at evens for today - they are 23/10 with Morocco odds on?
Tunisia v Mali
BTTS - yes @ 23/20
Morocco v Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast win @ 23/10
SA v Namibia
Like Mackem's take on over 1.5 for SA but too skinny for me at 9/10. Namibia look like they may have a set piece goal in them so adding to Mackem's over 1.5
Final score SA 2-1 @ 35/4
and have to take the double at these odds
Mali and Ivory Coast win @ virtually 10/1

Lost some loot yesterday but very pleased with Morocco performance for my out right. Streets better then the rubbish they produced against Namibia. I cap the games and make picks before checking books or reading Mackem's take. Caps OK today but this may be good or bad - I arrived at the same bets as Mackem. Sadly Angola are now 13/20 so have to manufacture one here having missed the 14/10. These sides were drawn in the same group in qualifying - Angola won the home leg 4-1 and lost the away leg 0-1 so Mauritania scored in both.

Egypt and Uganda only need the draw here but Egypt will want a home win and Uganda may settle for a one goal loss which would leave them with 4 points and a positive goal difference - virtually sure to go through. I made Zimbabwe and DRC around evens and, as Zimbabwe need the win and the books have them at 2/1 will take that

Going away for a few days but will put something up for Round of 16 games as and when I can. Good luck with Madagascar, an imaginative pick and would make a great story. Im still with Mali but probably more in hope than confidence :beer

Some amazing results in the knock-outs thus far - feel anything is possible.
Madagascar v DR Congo
Neither sides defense has impressed and will probably need more then one goal to win this
BTTS - Yes @ 12/10
Algeria v Guinea
Guinea is another side whose defense looked a little suspect and must admit I have been surprised by the chances Algeria have created
Match Bet and Total
Algeria and over 2.5 goals @ 41/20
