Hi All,

Awesome to have rugby back. Really didn’t expect this level of rugby in week 1 - was electric!

Was also good to start with a winning weekend.

Early markets are out for game week 2:

Chiefs -2.5 v Blues
Canes +6.5 v Crusaders

Chiefs v blues should be a tight affair and we find it a hard one to call.
However, we priced the saders minus nearer to double digits, thus think the saders -6.5 is a good bet at 1.9!

Congrats to the GFTG Panel last week for so many correct predictions and to BG for his newsletter best bet and confidence bet in the Blues, special mention to CC who called the 8+ Blues margin and the Ash Dixon first try.

First bets are out @ TAB NZ and I am straight in with bets on Blues and Saders and the Double.
2 LEG MULTI @ 3.36
Blues +2.5 @ 1.87 Points Start
Chiefs v Blues
Crusaders -5.5 @ 1.80 Points Start
Hurricanes v Crusaders

No idea how Chiefs can be favourites. They just lost to the weakest team in the comp.and their injury toll is killing them.

Canes pack looked vulnerable, No Fafita, Savea a shadow of himself, No Jordie again this week to general the backs.

Razor Robertson has mana that Jason Holland can only dream about. Agreeing with Soap on this one, home advantage will not save the Canes, line should be TEN. Cheers 3P

Great start to Super Rugby with the Landers +10.5 and Blues outright arriving. This week looks a little tricky to punt on but I will be sticking to my guns.

Chiefs outright at 8/10. Chiefs were shocked under the roof on the weekend but were missing Sam Cane. Gatland knows the importance of home fixtures and I expect to see Cruden back in at 10. The Blues are a serious outfit but I believe they will struggle on the road.

I'm leaning towards Saders minus but put off at the moment. The 'Canes will have Ardie back in this weekend and have had a game to dust off the cobwebs. Tough to not back the plus for the home side. Will put some more thought into it before pulling the trigger.

I share the same thoughts as ThoughtsOnSports about the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are not a bad side because of one result - they were poor but even poor they were always in the game and also could have won it. Gatland the same, he is one of the best coaches around and the Chiefs will surely rebound with a bit more continuity in possession and accuracy at the breakdown.

I'm looking for Cruden to start, Weber to play a bigger role, and McKenzie to light things up with a proper play-maker at 10 and solid back three.

Have taken the Chiefs outright @ 17/20, and -2.5 @ 9/10, will be adding alternative handicaps up to around -9.5 when they come out.

Yes
Drop Goal In Match
Chiefs v Blues @ 6.40
$ xxx.xx Total Stake TAB NZ

Historically there have been very few DG's by Kiwi Teams in SR. Last week we viewed two critical droppies in the Highlander game and another attempt by BB under advantage in the Blues game. Golden Point has also changed the rules. Tens and fifteens are practicing everywhere.

We all seem to expect a close encounter in the Tron this weekend. Cruden, McKenzie and Barrett are all exponents of the DG.
IMHO odds should be a lot lower than 6.4 to 1, so taking a punt on a DG. Cheers 3P

Blues (-6.5)
Points Start (a)
Chiefs v Blues
@ $3.05

Based on Team announcements - No Sam Cane and Blues Men v Mooloo Boys in the engine room (2nd Row) I am adding to my main bet of Blues +2.5 with a spicy Blues -6.5 paying a juicy $3.05 (similar to Couch's bet last week) Cheers 3P

Think im leaning towards Blues, but against my will... The more i look at last weeks games, and the teams for this week, i cant go against the Blues.
So my double is... Blues outright on to crusaders minus 6.5

Another bet from us:

Chiefs v blues

Under 30.5 half time points at 1.76 (betx)

Think this line should be closer to 25.5 so real value here.

This adds to our Saders -6.5 earlier in the week.

At risk of being horribly off the mark i'm in the Canes camp on Sunday. A game under belt a big playing under adapted rules a plus for their chances and game time, Saders could be a touch rusty in some areas.

Weather not expected to be great, might not rain, but cool, damp, windy. Unders ref of note - Pickerill loves a penalty, could be a stop-start game which might not suit Saders.

Holding fire at moment to see if the money for Saders cap can push Canes + into 9 or maybe 10, then will be all over it.

Chiefs vs Blues
Not much appealing on the market so will only go with a penalty to be the first scoring play @1.80
I like the penalty scored before 15” @1.50 but this is a bit low to be taken

Shed bucks on the ponies during shut down and was very pleased to see English footie back on Wednesday. Sadly the players only returned to fulfill contractual obligations and no one is interested (eg Villa in relegation zone at home 1 yellow card and 11 bookings in match - They should have been kicking lumps out of Sheffield). Not even going to mention the shite effort Arsenal put in.
So here we are punting on rugby because it looked like the fellows were giving it a go last week. Seen a lot of speculation that when players tire points will flow. This would be the opposite of football so I am going to apply my footie knowledge to the rugby
Chiefs v Blues
First half over 24.5 points @ 9/10

Still unsure of a main play, will check conditions closer to kick off. My bigger odds punts -

1st try Sowakula 25/1
Last try Barrett 17/1
Last scoring play home drop @ 25/1 and away drop @ 28/1

Small play I like starting one hour before Blues-Chiefs

Russian rugby premiership:

Slava DSP Moscow +4.5 at Bet365. Krasny Yar have long been the number two side in Russia after Enisey STM, however Slava have been bolstered by the arrival of five South African players in their ranks for the season, all of whom will be starting today.

Blues v Canes 14-13
Landers v Chiefs 20-16
Chiefs v Blues 9-10

Not sure of the best way to play this derby trend, but following pattern and going with Saders 1-7 half time @$ 3,40 TAB NZ

Taken Saders -7.5 @ 5/6 at ht to effectively trade out Canes +. I was very surprised to see that line at HT and with Canes lineout under pressure I’m not confident on FT cap. Will take the 1st half points and run.

I think the HT line was because Saders were on a card warning - good call to trade out South

Well played boys especially SOAP with the early Saders minus call
