Ruud vs Sugita

Ruud is very good on clay. He's coming into this tournament after semifinals in Rome (lost to Djokovic) and semifinals in Hamburg (lost to Rublev).

Sugita is struggling on clay. So much so that he didn't play at all on this surface in 2019.
I expect a short match here.

The conditions in Paris are a big challenge to Nadal at this tournament. Certainly not Gerasimov.

Djokovic vs Ymer

Huge gap between these two players. Ymer has to play qualies to enter just about any tournament, as he is ranked 80. Djoko is on fire, he has just won the title in Rome, so I don't think he'll spend much time on court.

One appealing bet that I found is Ymer not to get any break of serve from Djoko at odds 2.20.

Both bets at low odds, as Djoko does stupid stuff sometimes and loses more games than it is necessary.

Bet 1: Total games Under 26.5 @1.91
Bet 2: Ymer Under 0.5 breaks of serve @2.20

Ruud vs Paul
Korda vs Isner

Ruud has had much better performances on clay than Paul.
Isner actually is not bad on clay. He reached the 4th round at the French Open three times in the past, and at other major tournaments he goes far too.
Korda is a qualifier and ok, he beat Seppi in the first round, but Seppi has been playing at challenger level.

Bet: Ruud + Isner @1.84

Kukushkin vs Martinez

Kukushkin played qualies in Rome and lost just before getting to the main draw, while here he defeated Fognini in the first round.
Martinez played qualies in Rome and got to the second round there, then played qualies here and defeated Vukic, an unknown player, in the first round.

While Martinez seems to be in better form between these two players, I think we'll see a longer match here.

Bet: Over 37.5 games @1.88

Londero vs Cecchinato

Londero found some form in the first round here, as he defeated Delbonis in 5 sets.

Cecchinato slipped through the rankings and is now outside top 100. In Rome he went through qualifications and reached the second round of the main draw, and here he defeated De Minaur in the first round.

Londero beat Cecchinato in Cordoba on clay earlier this year, and Cecchinato is a former semifinalist here, so I'd expect a fairly even match between these two.

Bet: Over 35.5 games @1.80

Bonzi vs Sinner

Sinner appeared on the big stage of tennis last year and caused a few surprises on the tour.
In Rome last week he defeated Tsitsipas and Paire and reached the third round, where he lost in 3 sets to Dimitrov.
In the first round here he defeated Goffin in 3 sets.

Bonzi is an unknown player, ranked in the 200s. He went through qualifications here and defeated Ruusuvuori in the first round. This is already a successful campaign for the French player. He is lucky to even be here, as in the first qualification round he had to defend 5 match points.

Bet 1: Sinner 3-0 @1.83
Bet 2: Sinner -7.5 @1.96

Struff vs Altmaier

Struff has been playing good tennis and been in fine form for more than a year now. Last year he reached the fourth round at the French Open.

Altmaier plays his tennis at Challenger level.

Galan Riveros vs Sandgren

Riveros is lucky to even be here now: he came into the main draw as a lucky loser. Although he is good enough on clay, he plays mainly at Challenger level.

Bet: Struff + Sandgren @1.85

A. Martin vs Dimitrov

How much can we trust Dimitrov? Yes, he blew Barrere off the court in the first round, but Dimitrov isn't known for being consistent.

Andrej Martin is a good clay court player (he reached the third round here a few years ago), and in the first round he dispatched Joao Sousa in 3 quick sets.

I'll take a stab at a slightly longer match here, that is Dimitrov not to have it all his way.

Tauson vs Collins

Tauson has already spent more than 8 hours on court, going through qualifications until last round, when she defeated Jennifer Brady in 2hr 45 min.

Collins is a more seasoned player than her 17 year old opponent, yet she is the underdog in this matchup. In the first round she defeated Niculescu in 3 sets, coming back from a set and a break down, spending less than 2 hours on the court.

Bet 1: Collins win @2.48 (1/3 stake)
Bet 2: Collins +3.5 @1.78 (2/3 stake)

Siegemund vs Goerges

Siegemund was lucky to get through the first round, as Mladenovic was completely dominating her in the first set, until due to an umpire error she was awarded a set point that she was facing. Mladenovic collapsed after that and thus Siegemund is in the second round.

Goerges defeated Riske (20 places higher ranked than Mladenovic) in 3 sets in the first round, but she could have done it in quick sets, as she led 4-0 in the second, then lost a match point too. She finished the match with a 6-1 in the third set.

Goerges is the underdog here, but I think she should at least stay close if not win this.

Harris is now just inside top 100 and he beat Popyrin in the first round, but Popyrin has not made waves on clay and he is outside top 100.

Berrettini (no. 8) dispatched Pospisil in 3 quick sets in the first round and he made it look easy.

Wawrinka vs Gaston

Wawrinka is looking good here and he likes it too. He said "The current conditions are an advantage for me. Slow and heavy, it’s good for my game. I have enough power to put weight on each ball. I know that if I play well, I can beat everybody".
So far he dispatched Murray in 3 sets and Koepfer in 4. Koepfer is ranked in the 60s, while Gaston is in the 200s.
It's already too far for Gaston to be here.

Gombos vs Schwartzman

Gombos beat Coric in the first round and then a qualifier. He is ranked outside top 100.

Schwartzman is on fire these days. He beat Nadal in two sets and then he reached the final in Rome, losing to Djokovic.
Here he beat Kecmanovic and Giustino, both in 3 quick sets.

Bet: Total under 29.5 games @1.87, sportsbet.com.au (bet365 has it at odds 1.83).

Schwartzman vs Thiem

Schwartzman's very good form continues from Rome. He hasn't lost a set yet here, but now he's facing Thiem, who leads 3-1 h2h on clay. Regardless of that, Thiem looks more menacing than Schwartzman right now, and his serve is more powerful. Also, Schwartzman's opposition has been weaker than Thiem's, who beat Cilic and Ruud so far here.

Still, Schwartzman should take a set from Thiem, and I'm taking over 37.5 games @1.83, bet365

Svitolina and Swiatek are big favourites against their opponents tonight, so I'm taking this multi

Svitolina vs Podoroska

Svitolina, ranked 5th, dispatched Caroline Garcia in one hour, 6-1 6-3. She has now a big chance of getting to the final and winning it, especially that Halep is out.
Podoroska, 131st in the world, hasn't really been tested so far. She's coming from qualifications, but here opponents have been lowly ranked.

Sinner vs Nadal

Sinner is the Next Gen champion, he exploded on the tennis scene at that event last year, when he defeated top players from the next generation.

He is now facing Nadal, after he has just defeated Zverev in 4 sets.

Nadal cruised so far, but he struggled a bit in the first round against Gerasimov, 6-4 6-4 6-2.
Sinner is proving to be a much tougher opponent than his ranking suggests, and we saw him defeat Goffin as well, in the first round, in 3 sets, including a bagel.
I think Sinner could keep this close enough.

Bet: Sinner +9.5 @1.80, sportsbet.com.au

Rublev vs Tsitsipas

Both players are in great form these days. Not only they are now in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam, but even the week before this they played the final in Hamburg. Rublev won there in 3 sets and he leads the h2h on Tour 3-0. They met two other times at the Next Gen Finals and in an exhibition match in Abu Dhabi, when Tsitsipas won both times.
On Tour however, all matches had both players win a set, including last week.

Djokovic vs Carreno-Busta

Carreno-Busta, after going through at the US Open because of Djokovic disqualification, went two more rounds and reached the semifinals there, losing in 5 sets to Zverev, after leading him 2-0.
Now here at the French Open he is in the quarter-finals, so he is in great form.

What is being forgotten, however, is that at the US Open Carreno-Busta was leading Djokovic 6-5 with a break, and he was about to serve for the set. That's why Djokovic hit the ball in frustration, because he had just been broken and was probably going to lose the first set.

He may take a brutal revenge on Carreno-Busta, but I think the Spaniard showed that he can keep up with Djokovic at least for a while.

Djokovic vs Tsitsipas

Djokovic lost a set to Carreno-Busta. It was the first set that he lost at this tournament.
During the game, Djokovic asked for a medical time out.

The Spaniard said: " He didn't surprise me that he asked for a medical time out. It's a good thing. It's a sign that he is losing and that I was playing well because he always does that. It's something that he has been doing for years. When he is down, he asks for the trainer."
The thing is he's got a point, as Djokovic has done it many times during crucial moments in big matches over the years, and that halted the opponent's momentum and worked in his favour.

So Djokovic is vulnerable and Carreno-Busta couldn't take full advantage. Now he is facing a much stronger opposition, Tsitsipas. The Greek has been in fantastic form in the past few weeks. He played the final in Hamburg and now at the French Open he has been stellar.

One final note before my bet. The H2H is 3-3, and we're talking recent times, in the past two years. So Djokovic hasn't had it easy with Tsitsipas.

I think this is going to be a longer match than the bookies suggest.

Bet: over 37.5 @1.82, sportsbet.com.au (bet365 has it @1.72).
