The last couple of weekends have been horrid for me and although the preview pick WP-16.5 arrived I was bigger on the -17.5 (the reason is bookies limits, I would far rather have filled up on the -16.5) and then the Sharks overs play was a disaster

Anyway I decided not to bet on rugby again in 2020 and then realised that this weekends matches take place in 2021

There is Pro14 Premiership and Currie Cup

Here are my projected Currie Cup handicaps

Pumas +14.5 v Lions
Sharks -15.5 v Griquas
Cheetahs -3.5 v WP

Lions -13.5 for me, they go with their strongest team which means they want 5 points there and give some rest for the Bulls game.

Bristol v Newcastle

Liking over 11.5 Bristol points in the first half at 1.9✅
Over 44.5 total game points at 1.87✅
Bristol -8.5 for the game ✅

Radrada and Charles back, with Morahan on the bench, should open up in the second half.

Not much inspiration for this game and a small interest in the winning margin

Andy Urens service is bordering on arthritic for Bristol.

It’s like watching Greig Laidlaw trying to play an up tempo game for Scotland.

Watch him. Waits a few seconds before every pass from the ruck.

14-10 at HT. 4 points missed by flood off the boot. Those ears seem to be slowing him down on his approach to the ball.

Newcastle doing everything in their power not to score! Unbelievable. Vd Walt for Newcastle playing like a true natal sharks stalwart

26-17 after 58mins and nothing since. Conversion hits the post. This is hard to take.

So far I am on the following:

Lions -13.5
Ospreys +3.5
Castres +14.5
MHR +0.5 HT handicap (ST strong bench)
Connacht +23.5
Waps +6.5

I am tempted by Sharks - as well.

GL guys and all the best for 2021 betting!

I see Devon Williams is once again selected at 10 for the Pumas. Not sure whether he will retain the responsibility of goal kicks, and if so, will probably shave 10 - 15 points from the Puma's total. Take everything Lions this weekend.

HT: Lions -7.5
FT: Lions 15.5
Lions overs anything less than 35

Positive start to year but geez had to wait far to late for overs to arrive in Bristol, too many missed kicks.

Tomorrow I also fancy Lions, and Sharks and leaning Cheetahs. But keeping away from caps and looking to fire points lines when out.

Here are my fancies for Saturday

Wasps looking better but an almost even game against Exeter I just have to go for the visitors , Exeter. Day game, conditions will be cold but dry.

Likewise Gloucester have improved and in this case Sale are in trouble. However I think this is the game that Sale could turn things around in a 50/50 game by the books. Sale

The Lions are all the rage and keep improving . Having said that I'm hoping for a quick Lions start and if that's the case will get on the Pumas at a bigger plus than the current 17.5

I was on the Cheetahs last week and was glad to see them smash the Sharks. But against WP it could be very different. Personally I prefer WP , I think they'll have the annoyance to win a close game. Could be a little rain about too.

Lastly the terrible Sharks get a chance to show their fangs. Not for me though and I'm all in on the Griquas on the biggest plus currently 15.5

Like the look of Wasps today, decent side and Exeter testing their own depth a bit.

Wasps 1-12 @ 11/5 appeals but may go Wasps over 21.5 points if conditions good.

Wasps v Exeter
Think teams will be a bit rusty after Xmas and NY break, and won’t be as flowing in attack, and don’t fancy those wasps centres (De Jong and Le Bourgius - not sure on spelling).

So a few bets for me:
1. Under 48.5 points @1.8
(Ian tempest reffing who loves to be centre of stage. Expect many reset scrums and lectures with the clock still on)

2. Sam Simmonds and Jack Willis both to score a try @6-1 ; or add Dan Robson in to make it a treble at 22-1 with betfred.

3. Either team to win by 7 or less @2-1. Expect Wasps to win by 3-6 points.

Good luck all and apologies for pending complaints made in play by me about the players/ref/TMO etc

Lima Sopoaga is offering as much defence ability as Cabous Vd Westhuizen in his prime.

Hasn’t made a tackle all day - hilarious.

Only the angels worried about his hair.

Maybe Sopoaga has to wash his own kit so doesn’t want to get dirty? No idea.

Sale give away a lot of useless penalties that lead to soft tries. Jeez. Mind blowing stuff

Rob Du Preez at 13, wow. Put that man on furlough.

Lions messed me up too. Had lined up some nice points overs plays today, then they somehow missed the 35.5, left me shot of confidence for afternoon games and only kept Wasps over 22.5 but bailed on planned Cheetahs over 23.5 and Sharks over 35.5.

Kicking myself, an afternoon that got away.

Leicester v Bath today

Leicester are garbage, despite a few big names in their line up (if you could consider George Ford a big name).

Bath are littered with genuine talent in their line up, and edge it for me.

Taking Bath -2.5 and winning margin 1-12 @2.5

Points line sitting around 43.5 - avoiding this one. With Wayne Barnes in the middle, I expect it to be a flowing game and could get some points, but not confident. Would lean on the under if had to push.

Tryscorers for me:
Tom Dunn (Bath)
Zach Mercer (Bath)
Ben Spencer (Bath)

Good luck all

Points flowed, entertaining game. Barnes remains one of the golden NH refs for overs.
