Rugby Champs Boks v Pumas, Currie Cup, Bunnings NPC 18-22 August

If I start last week with the midweek Currie Cup I pulled square for the week but on the weekend itself I lost thanks to a terrible Saturday when Australia in particular dropped me. The test in Eden Park was a strange one as 45 minutes in I looked like cleaning up with Australia 6 points down, a man up and with a penalty on attack. I was calling for a scrum which they scored from at the end of the 1st half but they went for a lineout only to throw it skew (should be punishable by public stoning) and a few minutes later and the All Blacks were doing what the All Blacks do and that was dishing out a hammering.

Unfortunately the newsletter best bet was All Blacks u38.5 and that went up in flames (I was checking the wrong weather app all week that is for sure)

I did ok in the Currie Cup although lost pretty big going Bulls under 40.5 - really expected more from the Lions and sadly I went over 4.5 tries in the Boks v Argentina game

Onto this week and we have midweek Currie Cup - here are my projected handicaps

Pumas +12.5 v Bulls
Cheetahs -6.5 v Griquas
WP -7.5 v Lions

Australia and New Zealand have the week off but the Boks take on Argentina and here is my projected cap

South Africa -14.5 v Argentina (assuming Boks will mix things up a bit again)

We also have Currie Cup on the weekend - will post handicap projections Wednesday night and Bunnings NPC

Opening Currie Cup caps are out and here is how they compare to mine (WSB caps to the right in brackets)

Pumas +12.5 v Bulls (+12.5)
Cheetahs -6.5 v Griquas (-6.5)
WP -7.5 v Lions (-4.5)

Only difference is the WP game which I battled with as both teams so poor this weekend. If Gelant starts for WP I would be on the minus

SA v Argentina I went -14.5 and cap has opened -12.5

Sticking my neck out with some early fancies in the Bunnings NPC on the opening (Sunbet) H/Caps:

Hawkes Bay +7.5 (away at Canterbury)
Bay of Plenty +12.5 (away at Auckland)
Tasman Mako -27.5 (home vs Counties Manukau)
Otago -11.5 (away at Northland)

The other 3 games H/Cs are well set IMO, but wins for the 3 minuses (include Otago w) gives good odds in an accumulator.

Hoping not to have egg on my face next week this time :woohoo: :woohoo: :beer
Good punting guys

Teams out. Ruhan Nel is a major factor for me any WP side with him in it is a better WP side I think the -4.5 is SWEET

Bulls -12.5 v Pumas at 1.85

Pumas rotated big time and will target their last 2 games. Bulls can secure top spot with a BP win here.

Have a stool the size of a cricket ball in my scants after the Griquas 3 point second half.
Really should not be looking at overs points on the last match but I have a lot of faith in WP's inability to defend

WP v Lions
Lions over 24.5 @ 9/10

Can see Boks hurting Pumas again this weekend. Keen for points lines but for now -

Boks -12.5 @ 17/20 Hollywood.

massively aligned on Sharks cap, like that Brent. Unfortunately i'm sitting on my hands as my 3 main bookies where all my balances are haven't priced up, and reluctant to fund other accounts.

Hoping to get same cap but also Sharks points if not too ridiculous line.

Taken Sharks -9.5 but could only get 8/10.

Points lines out in UK. Taken double -

Pum/Che over 67.5
Gri/WP over 63.5

@ 2.36/1

Sharks/Lions line a bit too high for me @ 74.5, should be high 60's at most.

Tries conceded by the Boks in their last 10 games:
0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 1, 0

Argentina didn't look like scoring 1 last week

Can anyone talk me out of Arg under 1.5 tries @ 1.8 ??

My opinion is that Orie is not Bok standard

Boks cover the minus but not a great watch.

Overall a good weekend so far and will b getting involved in Griquas v WP later

Losing day for me overall, was slightly up on rugby but a punt on Liverpool goals frustratingly fell short.

Is today an overs or unders game? Need to get involved and was leaning overs.

Stuart Berry a concern for overs, but think Griquas overs is the way to go. Like Griquas to win aswell.

I am firmly in the camp of WP today. I think they will easily cover the minus handicap.

I understand the sentiment for Griquas, but I think this will be the priority match for WP ahead of next week's fixture against the Sharks in Durban. I also like to believe that Griquas will rather fancy their chances against the Pumas next week in order to get the play off spot.
