Six Nations Week 1, Currie Cup, URC, Gallagher Prem + other rugby 2-6 Feb

I wasn't able to watch the Sale v Leicester game but based on half time tweets had written the Newsletter Best Bet Sales -2.5 off only to pleasantly surprised when doing my weekly recon earlier tonight.

Overall a good weekend for me with the 2 preview picks (unders in the 2 URC local derbies) arriving with relative ease.

Things ramp up this week with midweek Currie Cup and the start of the Six Nations with the URC and Gallagher Prem continuing

SIX NATIONS WEEK 1

Here are the current handicaps

Ireland -13.5 v Wales
Scotland +2.5 v England
France -34.5 v Italy

CURRIE CUP MIDWEEK

Here are my projected handicaps - very much guesswork as I don't have a feel for the teams

Griquas +4.5 v Pumas
Bulls -5.5 v Cheetahs
Sharks -5.5 v WP

I'm not sure why England are favourites on Saturday. Scotland look as strong as last year whereas England if anything look weaker - certainly less experienced.

So I'm on a straight Scottish win! :-o

Fancy the Jocks to keep it tight, perhaps even edge it.
Good recent record vs England, both domestic teams are doing well & bit of covid/injury disruption in England camp.
Reckon it will start near choice.

Scotland +4.5 @ 1.91 with Skybet

Agree with you guys on Scotland. I'm on Scotland to win at 14/10 and Scotland +3.5 at 17/20.

Then also on Wales +14.5 at 17/20. Can't understand why this handicap is double figures. Ireland should win the game, but Wales the type of side that keep it close more often than not.

Let the battle begin www.twitter.com/hanrickswart

Spotted what I think is a bit of value on Wasps to win the Gallagher Premiership @ 100/1
As short as 17/1 elsewhere.

They went on a run about this time a couple of seasons ago and made the final.

Have had a bad injury crisis but having a few return (inc Launchbury, Fekitoa, Fifita) and also only missing Barbeary to International duty.

Got to be worth a couple of beers at that price.

My take on Ireland v Wales

goodforthegame.co.za/Six-Nations-Rugby/i...review-and-tips.html

I'm with the minus -13.5 (WSB), line is bigger than I would have anticipated so stake conservative but with visits to Paris and Twickenham to come I can see Ireland going all out for the bonus point should they be in a position to do so and that would hopefully carry me over the line. Team news is admittedly another factor with big guns missing from Wales

I will make some early(ish) 6N calls this season and then leave it to the Handicap lads from Thursday night's onwards

Nice calls today lads.

Early fancies this week , Wasps on the best plus , I| prefer the dorty taffs plus 13.5 , think they'll fade horribly as the tournament progresses and reckon Italy might have a chance at the end.

Also prefer unders in the Scotland match and hoping for a line of 42.5 or so.

Fancy the Eyeties on the halftime cap and will back their over points if in the region of 9.5.

Also fancy Quins to bounce back and beat Sale.

Bulls v Lions from Brent

goodforthegame.co.za/South-Africa-Rugby/...review-and-tips.html

"We have seen heavy rain in Pretoria, more so than in Joburg last week and Loftus does not drain as well as Ellis Park. The total pointss line could move to around 54.5 in my opinion so I'm going in now at under 58.5"

Bet: 6 units, under 58.5 total points, 17/20 Playabets

Last night reminds me why I’m more a points player than caps. Scot over 16.5 cruises in early, the cap line was around 16, and they go onto to lose by 17 after being 17-10 up.

Viva la points.

Heh Jamie ,

I'm a big Sale fan but thinking along the same lines , I am all over Quins on the plus , similar lines of thought to Exeter yesterday , Quins will be tough to beat on their home patch .

With regard Italy , I managed to get plus 15.5 HT , they are normally in with a fight on that bet , there is weather about but best confirmed , over 8.5 italian pts may be a suggestion , other unders on the total for me though the bookies have dropped from 53.5 to 49.5 already grr
