On the face of it another great weekend in the Rugby Champs with NZ HT cap cruising home as did the Boks outright and points unders.

Of course I got greedy and ended up chasing unders in the All Black game (swayed by conditions) and those losses (thanks to an 83rd minute try that was always going to happen) meant I only just came out ahead.

Sorry never got to the newsletter it was a crazy week and as I am down in Cape Town this weekend normal service will resume before the Rugby Champs

On that note here are my early handicaps

Australia +9.5 v New Zealand
Argentina +6.5 v South Africa

This weekend we have the 6th round of NPC and also the start of the Gallagher Prem

Absolute tons of rugby this wknd with NPC, Gallager and Top 14.

NPC:

Tasman +3.5 v Wellington
Waikato -2.5 v Auckland
Hawkes bay -13.5 v Southland
North harbour -4.5 v BOP
Counties -17.5 v Manawatu
Canterbury -14.5 v Northland

Hawkes Bay -13.5 could be value. Ranfurly shield game but Southland have heaps of injuries. They were missing 16 players vs Wellington. Charles Alaimalo will be added to that injury list and James and Knapp might also be missing.

Tasman vs Wellington

Any opinions on this one?

I am a bit impressed by Wellington's bench.
Also, the points line seems achievable, and the weather in Nelson doesn't appear to be bad.

Tempted to take as follows:

Wellington win @1.91
Wellington total points over 25.5 @1.86
Total Match Points Over 53.5 @1.90

Not strong on this game, but I am on Tasman win because of number 21, 22 and 23 on Wellington's bench. Overrated has beens.

Braden Stewart was very impressive last week, looking forward to seeing him go again. And Quinton Strange should make a big impact for the Mako again.

I like how you put it here: "...21, 22 and 23 on Wellington's bench. Overrated has beens."

I'm switching from my initial thinking and taking as follows:
Tasman team total points over 27.5 @1.90
and
Tasman win @1.87

Don't disagree with the Wellington bench sentiment, but still think they're stronger overall

Wellington +1.5 @ 1.91 for me

Pickerill will be loving this.

3-0 after 30 mins.

5m out and Tasman smash it 20m over the sideline - mind boggling

A Pickerill unders lands safely. All is good in the world.

But shocking play by Tasman - botched 5-7 chances on the try line.

Another tough week. But I like Waikato -2.5 something up with Auckland maybe to much rugby to early. Also like Auckland under 22.5 points. Waikato conceding less than 15 points per game.

Canterbury V Northland Under 58.5

Really surprised by that number maybe 12 points to high IMO. 6 games deep into the comp and one team has managed to sneak more than 20 points past Northland at this stage of the comp its no accident. +16.5 is a no brainer here to.

Jeez after this weekend results defense really dead in NZ. Can the bookies even cap these games any higher? because if they keep the caps in the mid to low 50's you can go 5-2 or even 6-1 playing over every game.

Over 50.5 in Gloucester v Wasps.

2 positive teams with good attacking wingers especially Thorley and Reese-Zammit for Gloucester.

Neutral referee and conditions good.

Snap, took same bet but over 51.5 @ 20/23 best I could get with funded bookies.

Really think this will be an open game, surface was excellent last season, weather good here today.

My god has this not arrived I would have hung up my betting boots, so so many chances wasted. Had given it up and then that sexy prop got over.
