My weekend got off to a cracking start with my biggest bet of the year coming home when the Black Ferns held out against England in the Womens Rugby World Cup. I then hit England over 38.5 points and my 2 double digit accas (early handicaps and newsletter) both advanced to the final legs when Wales beat Argentina. It was at this point that things started to go wrong.

The Newsletter best bet was France -4.5 and that was also the final leg of the handicap acca. At 13-0 up and with the Boks down a man I thought it was home and hosed but it was not to be and in the end a rare missed conversion cost me. No argument though I thought the Boks were the better team.

The newsletter acca ended on Saracens -2.5 HT and I would not have included if I knew it wasn't on TV and I had to watch the live score to see it go up in flames. I then lost on the New Zealand XV and All Blacks and all things considered it as a poor weekend masked by a big win that saw me end nicely in front.

It looks like we only have Internationals this weekend and here are my projected handicaps

Wales -17.5 v Georgi
Italy +10.5 v South Africa
Scotland -4.5 v Argentina
England +3.5 v New Zealand
Ireland -7.5 v Australia
France -23.5 v Japan

Just the 2 handicaps out so far and a big difference in the Ireland match

England +3.5 (+1.5) v New Zealand - Opened +3.5 England now +1.5
Ireland -7.5 (-13.5) v Australia

I think +13.5 Australia is too big. They took a chance with team selection against Italy something that backfired but that given they have 5 games on the trot they probably had to do

Just emptied my Betxchange account on the +13.5 Aus - I see this line going down 3-4 points and plan to hedge a bit and perhaps look for a middle (for a portion of the bet)

With 10 being an issue for the boks, the management team must be wanting to give Libbok an extended run off of the bench on Saturday. To do this with confidence, they will need to have a strong start to not have too much pressure on Manie when he comes on later. This is why I think they've named such a strong team starting and with a 6/2 split to keep them on the front foot in the second half. As impressive as Italy's attack has been, I can't see them cracking the bok defence as easily as they did against the Ozzies.

The boks covered this HT cap in their last three games of the rugby championship.

South Africa HT -8.5

Filling my boots with Italy +18.5 - Their tails are up.
Will wait see other options for Italy also.
We're not going to push them around like we used to.
We just possibly might have made a mistake fooling around with our selections, and although our bomb-squad does look ferocious, they might force us to deploy them sooner than we anticipate.
Its happened before...

Something that caught the eye early -

SCOvsARG

SCO -3.5 @1.93

With Finn back the Scots are a different team and I think it will be a bridge too far for Argentina to get up again -

Ashton gate will be a 16th person on the field tonight.

Superb atmosphere and fan base.

At single digits - I love the minus but if this gets up to 15/16, I'll be firmly in the Bears camp.

International games:

Will throw in how I expect the points line to come out:

Italy vs Boks:

53.5: 17.5 - 35.5

Fancy the Italians to cover the 19.5 here. Good Bok side but new combinations in second row swing it for me. Kieran Crowley is a smart operator and will have a plan.

Scots vs Argies:

52.5: 28.5 - 24.5

All over the Scots here at -2.5 at 8/10. Argies can't only get results when they play with passion/emotion - some consistency is required in order to mingle with the best. Scots team is underrated in my opinion - arguably one of the most dangerous back 3s paired with one of the best distributors in World Rugby. Watson injury a concern but fancy Jamie Ritchie to put in a shift.

Eng - NZ:

52.5

24.5 - 28.5

Finally Eddie doesn't pick a second rower in the back row. Simmonds a great tactical pick - offers go forward off set pieces and in the wide channels. I like the NZ side especially the move of Barrett to blindside. An either team by 7 or less for me but if pushed, would lean ABs at 7/10 or -1.5 at 8/10.

France vs Japan:

60.5: 41.5 - 19.5

French traditionally bad to back on a big minus although I expect that trend to break this weekend. Rumoured to be picking a strong side so can see cap hit 24/25.

Portugal has looked impressive and well-coached in their games.

In other news, looks like Kenya Rugby Union is in a complete mess. Players haven't received any of their allowances for these world cup qualification matches, and as such have refused to train this whole week for today's game against Hong Kong. Not sure how much motivation there will be from the Kenyan players and Hong Kong has looked energetic in their games and have a good rolling maul.

Hong Kong points overs looks a good play:
HT over 18.5
FT over 41.5

French Barbarians vs Fiji

French Barbarians consists of French Under-20 and senior players.
The Flying Fijians team plans to finish on a high note in the final ANS Test match.

Head coach Vern Cotter has named a very strong side against the French Barbarians by making seven changes from the Irish match, lost 35-17.

Bet: Fiji -10.5 @1.78
