Varsity Cup 2024 Round 1

A mate of mines son is in the broader Tuks squad (Varsity Shield sadly this year) and I went to watch some warm up games against Wits on Friday

Not sure if Wits were missing any players but Tuks won fairly comfortably in the Probables v Probables and the Possibles v Possibles was evenly matched

Not sure whether to read anything into that but perhaps Wits not that strong this year

I penned some thoughts on Week 1 for WSB

Points lines now also out

Shimlas v Ikeys 59.5

CUT v UJ 64.5

UWC v Wits 69.5

Maties v Pukke 54.5

I see Shimlas v Ikeys points line is 61.5 now

I agree with the money and make that my best bet on the card (by Varsity Cup standards so won't be asking the bank for credit)

Shimlas love to entertain and their semi against UCT had 95 points and the match before that against CUT over 100

Didn't get to watch as much as I hoped but best bet arrived however narrow miss on CUT handicap meant a losing start but far better than previous years so actually I feel like a winner

Varsity Shield Thursday and WSB have prices

After a chat with Darren Holliday on Twitter the -45.5 Tuks away to Fort Hare may not be big enough
