sundowns1819Betway Premiership action continues on Saturday and our focus is on Mamelodi Sundowns v Kaizer Chiefs and Marumo Gallants v Orlando Pirates

Mamelodi Sundowns 11/20 Draw 2.95/1 Kaizer Chiefs 48/10

With Sundowns 15 points clear at the top of the log at first glance it looks as though the title race is over but Downs have played 4 games more than second place Pirates. They have won 17 and lost 2 of 19 matches, scoring 46 goals, the highest in the Betway Premiership and conceding just 11, the joint lowest.

Since losing at TS Galaxy in mid February Downs have bounced back with wins away to Gallants (3-1), in the return at home to Galaxy they came out on top 4=1 and most recently they were 4-2 winners away to Sekhukhune.

Chiefs continue to frustrate and their record of 7 wins, 4 draws and 7 defeats puts them no higher than mid-table. A lack of consistency has plagued them all season and they threw in a shocker last time out, going down 4-1 at home to Supersport.

Chiefs lost the first league meeting with Sundowns 2-1 in controversial fashion in late September but when the teams met in the Carling Knockout in November Downs romped to a 4-0 win.

The Verdict

The goals have been flowing for Sundowns and it would be no surprise to see another high scoring game here. I'm with both teams to score in a match of 3 goals or more in total.

Bet: Total Goals & Both Teams To Score? Over 2.5 and yes at 1.35/1 with Betway

Marumo Gallants 6/1 Draw 3/1 Orlando Pirates 5/10

Gallants are third from bottom with 16 points from 18 league matches and prior to their 0-0 draw at home to Polokwane last time out they had suffered 3 straight defeats. Home form comprises of 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats, goals are scarce with 8 scored and 7 conceded. However, there was no shortage of goal action in the first meeting with Pirates on Christamnas Eve as the Bucs romped to an 8-1 win.

Pirates are in for a busy second half of the season having played just 15 matches, winning 12 and losing 3. They crashed 4-1 at Sundowns in early Feb but have bounced back with a 2-1 home win over Cape Town City last weekend and they also progressed in the Nedbank Cup.

Pirates come into this game 15 points behind Sundowns in the title race but they do have 4 games in hand.

The Verdict

Gallants have a new coach arriving imminently and he will inherit a side who are really battling. They have kept things pretty tight in home fixtures though and whilst I doubt we will see a repeat of the 8-1 scoreline from December I'm still with Pirates to score in both halves of football.
