After a hectic weekend of sport Monday is a fairly quiet day and while we take a look at the punting options we also cast an eye ahead to the balance of the week.
TENNIS
Live tennis returns to our screens with the ATP Hamburg taking place in Germany and there are a host of matches taking place on Monday, some of which look like competitive betting heats. HORSE RACING
Monday’s Horse Racing takes place at Flamingo Park in Kimberley with the first race getting under way at 12h20 and the 9th and final race at 16h40. As usual in Kimberly this looks a competitive card, but we do have a fancy for the favourite in Race 7, Axios trained by Spies and ridden by Muzi Yeni currently on offer at 13/10.

RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP
The Springboks got off to a cracking start in their Rugby Championship campaign when they beat the Wallabies by 18 points in Johannesburg on the weekend. They now face a very tough trip to Tournament favourites, New Zealand and bookmakers are given the Springboks a 10.5 point start.
The other match taking place this weekend is Australia against Argentina with the Wallabies (-7.5) points to see off the Pumas in Brisbane. We have a suspicion this handicap will come in to closer to +5.5 Pumas before kick-off

CURRIE CUP BETTING UPDATE
Round 3 of the Currie Cup takes place this weekend, but for now a look at the latest betting.
The Toyota Free State Cheetahs are 22/10 joint favourites with Western Province with the Sharks 7/2 and unbeaten Griquas 11/2. You can get 12/1 and better the balance.

TOUR DE FRANCE
The Tour de France is on a rest day on Monday and the riders certainly need it after an incredibly tough few days in the Pyrenees. There have been major shifts in the outright betting markets with Yellow Jersey Alaphilippe finally showing signs of weakness and he has drifted from 12/10 to 9/2 with Thibaut Pinot 11/10 and Geraint Thomas (once 6/10) now 7/2 second favourite. There are two other riders in single figures being Bernal 11/2 and Kruijswijk 8/1 and you can get 12/1 and better the balance.

CRICKET
We get our first cricket action following the World Cup when England take on Ireland in a test match starting on Wednesday. The English are massive favourites at 1/9 with the draw at 8/1 and Ireland 25/1 underdogs. One of the Exotic Markets we like is Root to score a 100 in the first innings at 3/1.

FOOTBALL, THE CARLING BLACK LABEL CUP
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates take their places in the Carling Black Label Cup to open the South African season. This is generally a fixture where punters are recommended to tread carefully, but as is typical of these Soweto Derbies the betting is tight with Kaizer Chiefs 37/20, the draw 2/1 and Pirates 14/10. The match takes place on Saturday and we will have more betting updates during the week.
