Wednesday is a huge day for the Proteas in the Cricket World Cup, the quarter finals of the French Open continue at Roland Garos and in the world of football the Uefa Nations League and Cosafa Cup are also in focus.
Cricket World Cup
There are two matches in the Cricket World Cup on Wednesday with top billing going to South Africa’s clash with India in Southampton. The Proteas can ill afford another defeat after being soundly beaten by England and then humbled by Bangladesh whilst India have been waiting patiently on the sidelines for what will be their first match of the finals.
In the latest match result betting India were trading as 8/15 favourites and South Africa can be backed at 31/20 to kick start their campaign. We have a full match preview available on this link with Kagiso Rabada to be top South Africa bowler amongst the suggested bets. India v South Africa - click here for all markets
The other match on Wednesday sees Bangladesh bid to take another big scalp when they take on New Zealand at The Oval. Bangladesh will be full of themselves after turning the Proteas over but New Zealand have already put an early marker down with a 10 wicket demolition of Sri Lanka in their first match. We saw another surprise on Monday when outright favourites England were beaten by Pakistan and if you fancy the underdog again here then Bangladesh can currently be backed at 12/5. French Open Tennis
Novak Djokovic comes up against Alexander Zverev in the Mens Singles quarter finals and Djokovic has yet to drop a set in the tournament so far. After losing just 7 games in another straight sets win over Jan-Lennard Struff he is 1/7 to take another step towards his goal of holding all 4 Grand Slam titles for the second time in his career. Another straight sets win for Djokovic is currently priced at 19/20.
The other quarter final sees last year’s runner up Dominic Thiem take on Karen Khachanov who is making his first appearance in the last 8 of a major tournament. Thiem is 1/3 to win the match and 15/10 to win in straight sets.

Football
The Uefa Nations League returns with the League A play offs to be contested by Portugal who host the event, Switzerland, Netherlands and England. Wednesday’s game sees Portugal take on Switzerland and with home advantage the Portuguese have been trading as favourites at around 13/20 whilst the 90 minute draw can be backed at 11/4 and the Swiss are a 9/2 chance.
Portugal were unbeaten on their way to these play off with taking 4 points off both Italy and Poland. Switzerland beat Iceland home and away and whilst they lost 2-1 in Belgium they stunned that opposition with a 5-2 home victory to book their place in the first ever Nations League finals. It’s also semi final time in the Cosafa Cup with Lesotho taking on Botswana before Zimbabwe clash with Zambia. Botswana beat Bafana in a penalty shoot out to reach the semi’s but both of Wednesday’s match ups look tight and it would be no surprise if spot kicks were needed to settle one or both arguments.
