BettingDiaryIn our weekend diary we take a look at the second of the Super Rugby semi finals, some big guns are in action in AFCON 2019 and its knockout football in the Womens World Cup and Copa America. Host nation England face a huge game in the Cricket World Cup and we also take in an outright betting update for the Mens Singles at Wimbledon.

Super Rugby

We start with Super Rugby and a look at the second of the semi finals between the Crusaders and the Hurricanes which kicks off in Christchurch at 09:35 on Saturday morning.

The Saders face a fellow New Zealand side for the second week in a row after they saw off the Highlanders 38-14 in a home quarter final last week to remain on course for a third consecutive Super Rugby title. Should they win again here they will also host the final and they are unbeaten in front of their own supporters 8 wins and 1 draw this season.

The Hurricanes came through their quarter final at home to the Bulls with a 35-28 victory and they will have to turn this season’s head to head form with the Saders around if they are to go any further. The Canes lost both head to heads in the regular season, 38-22 in Christchurch in Round 2 and 32-8 in Wellington in Round 7.

In the betting markets the Crusaders are 1/5 favourites to win the game with the Hurricanes currently trading at 4/1 and the draw at 35/1.

At the time of writing the Canes have a 12.5 point start on the handicap, a line which has moved from 10.5 points earlier in the week.

International Football

It’s another busy weekend of international football and in AFCON 2019 the race to secure places in the first knockout round continues.

The headline clash on Saturday comes from Group F where heavyweights Cameroon and Ghana do battle. Defending champions Cameroon top this group after winning their opener 2-0 against Guinea-Bissau whilst Ghana have work to do after playing out a 2-2 draw with Benin in their first action of the tournament. In the current match result betting either side can be backed at 18/10 to win the game and in a tricky looking match to call the draw could be the way to go at odds of around 37/20.

On Sunday it’s the final round of matches in Groups A and B. Host nation Egypt, who have won both matches so far, bid to secure top spot in Group A against a Uganda side who are on the verge of joining them in the knockout rounds. Zimbabwe need a win against DR Congo to keep their hopes of a prolonged stay in the tournament alive.

Nigeria are already guaranteed to progress from Group B as they prepare to take on Madagascar on Sunday whilst Guinea need to beat Burundi to avoid an early exit.

Saturday’s quarter final in the Womens World Cup sees host nation Italy take on the Netherlands whilst on Sunday Germany meet Sweden.

The Dutch ladies have a 100% record so far and all their games have seen backers of over 2.5 goals and both teams to score? (yes) collect. Germany are another side who boast a 100% record and they have yet to concede a goal in these finals.

Copa America matches are being streamed live on World Sports Betting TV and the last of the quarter final match ups sees Uruguay trading at odds on to beat Peru on Saturday night. Uruguay came through their group unbeaten with 2 wins and 1 draw whilst Peru took 4 points from their first 2 matches before crashing to a 5-0 defeat against host nation Brazil.

Cricket World Cup

Saturday’s Cricket World Cup matches see Pakistan bid to continue their quest for a semi final place when they take on Afghanistan who have lost all their matches so far. Meanwhile Australia are already confirmed as one of the semi finalists and New Zealand are on the verge of joining them. The teams meet at Lords in what should be a cracking game.

Match previews.

Pakistan v Afghanistan

Australia v New Zealand

On Sunday host nation England face a must win game against unbeaten India in Birmingham. England have lost their last 2 matches and 3 in total and another defeat here would make it very tough to reach the semi finals.

India are currently marginal favourites at 17/20 to win the game with England trading at even money.

We have a full match betting preview on this link where we look to Joe Root to top score for England. Bet on England v India here.

Horse Racing

Local racing comes from Kenilworth and Greyville on Saturday. The KZN Breeders Million Mile is the highlight on a 9 race card in Durban whilst the Winter Oaks and the Winter Derby are among the 9 races in Cape Town.

On Sunday Turffontein stages an 8 race card on the standside track.

We also have ante post betting for the Durban July along with all the other feature races to be run at Greyville on the 6th July
