The latest Goodforthegame newsletter penned by @BrentGraham with best bets for the weekend 1st to 3rd September
Manie Libbok delivered last weeks newsletter bet when he scored over the 8.5 required points but it is fair to say I won a bet I called hopelessly wrong. I thought the Boks would go for 3 pointers early but that was not the case and in the end it took a 100% strike rate and 5 conversions to land the spoils – there is no comments column in the betting ledger though and I will take it.
What a pity the 20/1 acca missed on an 8/10 shot (Jumbo-Visma in TTT at la Vuelta) that was never in the running once the storms hit.
There is NPC and Top 14 rugby this weekend but nothing I am betting on so a relaxed weekend with some cycling betting and RWC planning is on the cards.
RWC FEVER BUILDING
It was great to welcome Couch Critic back onto the THE HANDICAP show last night and we were joined by The Understaker who was practically glowing in anticipation for the RWC.
We spoke about the outright betting markets including Tournament Winner, Top Try and Points Scorers and we also had a look at the Total Points, Tries and Cards markets.
Click here if you missed the show
Please note that due to clashes with some Thursday Night RWC games THE HANDICAP will go live at 12h00 Midday every Friday from next week – this remains subject to change.
COUCH’S CORNER
Couch will be writing for us during the RWC and his first 2 articles are up
His Outright betting preview where he is leaning Boks
Click here for his Exotic Preview (includes references to Teazers and Mavericks so we may pick up some dodgy search engine traffic) just went up and he has labelled some huge prices at Boylesports

OVERSEAS ENTRIES
We have had a lot of requests from the UK and surrounds and if you want to enter from outside SA you can use PayPal to transfer to a South African Bank Account – please just make sure nett amount is R500 – there is a 2.99 pound charge on your side but hell your exchange rate is so strong you will hardy flinch
DUPONT TO BE CROWNED KING
I am not confident but am still leaning France in this Rugby World Cup. If they win I think it is highly likely the captain gets “Player of the Tournament” and he is currently a standout 23/2 at at Boylesports
These are not markets I get carried away with but over 3 times the price of the French to win I simply have to have a go at the man I think is the best player in the World.
BET: 1 unit DuPont Players of the Tournament at 23/2* at Boylesports
Thomas Ramos has a deadly boot and I expect the French to take their 3 points when on offer early in games, even ones they are guaranteed to win. He is priced at just over 4/1 at the time of sending the newsletter and with 5/2 elsewhere I simply cannot resist.
BET: 3 units Thomas Ramos Top Points Scorer at 21/5* at Boylesports
Click here to open an account at Boylesports - we appreciate the support
*Note prices are on offer at the time of sending but are likely to move as punters get stuck in

ONE FOR THE WEEKEND
We have decided to rebrand “Mackems Money Maker” to “One for the Weekend” as aside from forum posters the general public don’t know our Mackem – it also takes a bit of pressure off his shoulders.
One for the Weekend, Scottsville Sunday 3rd September
Race 7 is due off at 16:10 and No.2 Royal Victory (who Chris's wife has a small share in) is the each way play.
Royal was beaten less than 2 lengths into 5th in a listed handicap over 1600m at Greyville on Gold Cup day. Whilst that was not a bad effort his runs in JHB graded contests earlier last season suggest he is capable of better. The drop down in distance for this Pinnacle Stakes is something of an unknown but he should give us a decent run at an each way price. Gavin Lerena takes the ride for ace trainer Nathan Kotzen.
Scottsville Race 7, No.2 Royal Victory each way.
This feature is powered by Betway and we expect odds of around 6 or 7/1.

That’s it for now folks, have a great weekend and I hope you are all “glowing” like Hanrick next week!
See you soon for some proper punting.
