The New Year got off to a flier for us last week with the under 47.5 points in the Western Province v Sharks game absolutely cruising in.  I was also on the Sharks on the handicap in that game and it ensured a profitable weekend despite that last minute heartbreak of the Bulls handicap losing at Loftus.

My weekend could have been a real belter when I took a 4 leg accumulator on Sunday featuring 2 PSL games, a Pro 14 Rugby game and then a cyclocross event.  I really threw the cyclocross in because I just wanted to boost the price of the accumulator to double figures and I took the favourite at 11/20.

The other 3 legs arrived and of course the shortest price of them all, the cyclocross favourite was beaten into 2nd.  This weeks Citizen Blog is call “Greed proves costly” and empowered by Playabets.

Last night’s edition of THE HANDICAP was the shortest yet, there were a couple of reasons for this, one there wasn’t that much rugby other than the Currie Cup to discuss, but mainly it was due to terrible Wi-Fi connections of both guest @HanrickSwart and myself and there were times when I wasn’t even sure if he was speaking.

There appears to have been Wi-Fi issues countrywide, but my service provider is just not cutting it and at R1100 a month I can surely do better.

BOOKS WIDE AWAKE FOR LOFTUS CLASH
WSB priced up the Bulls v Sharks handicap within a point of me and there has been virtually no movement – more on that and my outright pick in our betting preview of the final

I have held the newsletter back again so as to get points lines. I was hoping for a points quote of around 46.5 but the books are alert to the rain about and it is at 42.5. The line looks about right.

I do have 4 additional plays and given it is a final will allow myself all 4 in this mail

5 units Sharks over 16.5 points at 15/20 at Sunbet
Love this one as Bosch is capable of banging points from all over.

7 units under 4.5 tries at 8/10 at WSB.
I expect this to be a tight affair with both teams taking penalties when on offer. This should limit the number of mauling opportunities close to the line and let’s face it that is where most tries some from these days. Both of these teams have an excellent defence.

1 unit Most Tries - DRAW at 4/1 at WSB
This looks like great vale if I have read the game correctly

0.5 unit No Try Scorer at 40/1 at WSB
A great price for a final between 2 sides with excellent D and some rain about

Have a good one from a game reserve near Bela Bela and if the final finishes 60-14 to the Bulls those in the area should listen for a lone gunshot
