Premier League Matchday 9 Preview
The Premier League is bringing us a handful of promising matches this weekend! Here`s what we are keeping our eye on!
Manchester City vs Brighton
Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from 2 consecutive Premier League defeats, and the last time they`ve lost 3 consecutive Premier League was in 2016. The Citizens have lost 3 of their last 4 games in all competitions and went onto the international break on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. Playing at the Etihad is a great opportunity for them, as they`ve not lost to Brighton at home in their last 6 Premier League encounters, and scored whooping 16 goals, conceding just 2. On the grand scheme of things, the English Champions have won in their last 20 games in all competitions at home.
Brighton will be looking to break their streak of 4 games without a win. The 1-0 loss to Chelsea ignited a poor run, losing 6-1 to Villa, and drawing 2-2 in both of their last games against Marseille and Liverpool. Although the Seagulls held City to a 1-1 draw in their last encounter, they`ve only avoided defeat twice in their last 12 meetings. Although you can`t rule either team out, Man City are undoubtedly the favourite here. Based on previous games, we expect a handful of goals, therefore, Manchester City to win and over 2.5 goals. Chelsea vs Arsenal
Chelsea`s EPL recovery run continued with a 4-1 victory over Burnley before the international break. Although a massive ask, the hosts can now extend their winning run to 3 games for the first time since October 2022. However, their Premier League home run has been abysmal so far, having won just 1 game and lost 2 back-to-back games recently, giving a confident Arsenal side enough opportunities to exploit.
Arsenal will be looking to continue a high-flying form in the Premier League, coming off a 1-0 victory over Man City. The Gunners are yet to taste a Premier League defeat this season and are the only side to hold a perfect defensive record on the road so far. Furthermore, the last time they lost at Stamford Bridge was in a Europa League bout back in 2019. Overall, a London Derby always brings a different atmosphere, even from a struggling team. We expect it to be a tight game, with under 2.5 goals, but Arsenal to grind out a victory. BET HERE
Sheffield United vs Manchester United
Sheffield`s nightmare of a season gets no better as they face United, on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Fulham, totaling their winless streak to 9 games across all competitions this season. The Blades have been poor in both defence and offence – having scored just 6 and conceded 21 goals in just 8 Premier League games. Considering they`ve failed to beat United at Bramall Lane since the 1992-1993 season, this is unlikely to be the turnaround game for them.
United looked unconvincing yet again in their clash against Brentford, although a dramatic 2-goal rescue was pulled off by Scott McTominay. Just as they home run, their away run has been poor this season – having won just 1 of their 3 away games in the English topflight. Nevertheless, they have enough hope considering Sheffield's poor run, to record 2 consecutive victories for the first time this season. With both defences leaking, we expect a lot of goals. Therefore, we expect over 2.5 goals and Manchester United to win. BET HERE
