CHIEFSCouch Critic previews Highlanders v Blues and Chiefs v Crusaders in Round 8 of Super Rugby Aotearoa including his best bets and tryscorer specials with @Olimp_SA

SUPER RUGBY AOTEAROA – 16 & 17 April

It was a crazy week in Kiwiland with two normal time draws playing out. Considering my calls the Highlanders result was a good one but the Crusaders letting a strong start slip cost me big time. Not only did the result sink my best bet double but I also had the 10/1 play on Bridge go down the drain. But all is not lost – we get to go again this weekend!

Highlanders vs Blues – Friday 16 Apr @ 09:05, Dunedin

The Blues return from their bye week whilst the Highlanders will still be smarting from their Golden Point defeat to the Chiefs last week. The Landers dominated the set pieces and will be kicking themselves for not putting the Chiefs away. The Blues will prove a tough obstacle to overcome and the home side will have to play more like the one we saw in Christchurch a fortnight ago and less like the one that wet the bed against the Chiefs.

The Blues have struggled to find their top gear for the most part but yet again I will have bind faith in the team that looks Rockstar on paper. Hopefully they don’t leave me singing the blues…

Betolimp Bets:

Double: Blues onto Crusaders @ 2.09

I’m backing the class to shine through this weekend. Blues and Crusaders to play to their potential and get the job done.

HT/FT Margin: Highlanders (1-8) / Blues (13+) @ 29.00

Ash Dixon to score the first try and Blues to win the game @ 21.00

Anytime Tryscorer: Tom Robinson @ 4.75

Last Tryscorer: Akira Ioane @ 19.00

Chiefs vs Crusaders – Saturday 17 Apr @ 09:05, Hamilton

The one team has won three matches on the trot and the other has a loss and a normal time draw behind their name as their most recent results. Prior to the season one would have thought I was talking about the Crusaders in the first instance and the Chiefs in the latter. But alas it’s the Chiefs who go into this clash in Hamilton as the team in form whilst the Crusaders are stuck in a bit of a rut at present.

The home side could put an entirely different spin on things if they were to topple the champs. It would put them in prime position to be the ones to tackle a then vulnerable Crusaders outfit in the final of the comp on 08 May. It’s all to play for in Chiefs country this Saturday but just like last week I’m expecting the Crusaders to set the record straight and kick back into gear.

Betolimp Bets:

Half Time Cap: Crusaders -2.5 @ 1.80

I’m expecting a stinging response from the Crusaders whilst the Chiefs have often taken some time to get into their work.

HT/FT Margin: Crusaders (9+) / Crusaders (1-12) @ 9.50

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Saders start strong and then idle home in the end.

Last Tryscorer: Codie Taylor @ 13.00

George Bridge to score the first try and Crusaders t win @ 14.00
