With the final golf major of the year behind us our golf punter “The Don” turns his attention to the PGA Tour and the 3M Open which starts in Minnesota on Thursday the 27th of July 2023.
After enjoying the Open Championship I am ready for some late nights shouting my fancies home.
The Favourites
Tony Finau returns to TPC Twin Cities after winning last year’s 3M Open by three shots ahead of both Emiliano Grillo and Sung-jae Im. With him priced as a 65/4 shot, the only other players above him in the betting are Sung-jae Im at 16/1 and Cameron Young at 15/1. Sepp Straka’s recent streak of form, finishing 2nd in The Open Championship and winning the John Deere Classic puts him amongst the top five favourites to win at 24/1.

TPC Twin Cities
TPC twin cities is a par 71 parkland course situated in Blaine Minnesota. It has water in play on 15 of the eighteen holes, so consistency off the tee will be crucial. The greens are generous making hitting them slightly easier than usual and allowing the players who are better with their putters in hand to take advantage and produce lower scores. The weather forecast shows no sign of any rain and little to no wind throughout the tournament which should in result in consistent golf with tee off times having little impact.
THE DONS BETS
Cameron Young at 15/1
After his recent showing at The Open Championship finishing in 8th, there is no doubt Cameron Young is eager for a win. He certainly has the game to do so in his 1st start at this course.
Tony Finau at 65/4
Finishing 3rd in 2019 and winning last year, Tony Finau has shown that he is fully capable of playing well at TPC Twin Cities and if he can find his game after a few indifferent weeks he has every chance of defending his title.
Sepp Straka at 24/1
Sepp Straka’s recent form with a second and first place finish in his last two tournaments shows that he is playing some amazing golf and will most likely be a top contender for the title. His past performances here have not been great but he is a different player these days.
Emiliano Grillo at 25/1
After finishing 6th in The Open Championship and have a second and third place finish at TPC Twin Cities, not only does this he shown he is in form, but it also shows he knows how to play TPC Twin Cities.
Lucas Glover at 42/1
In his last three tournaments Lucas Glover has finished 5th, 6th and 4th, this is the type of form that could earn him a win at the 3M Open this year. I am a bit concerned by his poor course record but he is going through a resurgence and can challenge at a tasty price.
