BettingDiaryThe DSTV Premier League continues on Tuesday with 3 matches and we take a look at each of them from a betting angle.

BAROKA v TSHAKHUMA

Baroka are currently 9th on the table and still very much in the running for a Top 8 finish. They broke a run of 3 matches without a victory when they beat AmaZulu 1-0 on the road last time out. They have only lost 1 of their last 8 games, all 8 of those games would have delivered profits had you been backing under 2.5 goals.

Tshakhuma got a much needed victory on the weekend, beating Maritzburg 1-0 at home and that lifts them out of the relegation zone into 13th spot. Another win here would probably be enough to see them stay up. Tshakhuma’s last away game was a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport and they have only won 2 of 13 away games this season, including 3 of their last 4

Baroka 31/20

Draw 19/10

Tshakhuma 23/10

Suggested Bet: The draw at 19/10

I can see this being a tight, low scoring affair, but with under 2.5 goals trading as short as 5/10, I am going to go for the draw which I think offers the better value. Both teams would love 3 points, but I think they may approach this game with a “do not lose attitude”.

SWALLOWS v STELLENBOSCH

Swallows are 5th on the table and incredibly they have drawn 8 of their last 9 matches and their last 5 games have all finished 1-1. Last time out they drew 1-1 with Chiefs and prior to that 1-1 with Maritzburg United. Their last two home games were against SuperSport and Pirates, both finishing 1-1.

Stellenbosch have gone 9 matches without a victory and they have also drawn 5 of those 9 games while losing the other 4. Last time out they played to a goalless draw at home to Pirates but their last away game was a 1-0 loss at Chippa United.

Swallows last 7 PSL matches have had under 2.5 goals in them and Stellenbosch are not far behind in that department, their last 6 games failing to reach the 3 goal mark.

These sides drew the reverse fixture at Stellenbosch, you guessed it, 1-1.

Swallows 11/10

Draw 2/1

Stellenbosch 33/10

Suggested Bet: Correct Score, 1-1 at 19/4

Okay this run of Swallows 1-1 draws has got to end, but we profited from this bet last time out and are prepared to give it another go.

If you are looking for a more conservative option, the draw is available at 2/1.

CHIPPA UNITED v BLOEM CELTIC

Chippa United are currently 15th on the log and desperate for a victory after Tshakhuma sent them into the relation zone when they won their match on the weekend. Chippa are undefeated in their last 4 with 2 wins and 2 draws, most recently drawing 0-0 at home to Leopards and prior to that beating Stellenbosch 1-0 at home. Chippa’s last 5 games have all had 1 goal or less in them.

Bloem Celtic are 11th on the table and are not yet certain of PSL football next season. They have drawn an incredible 13 out of their 27 matches, losing 9 and winning 5. They haven't won in their last 6 games with 5 draws and 1 loss and last time out drew 0-0 at home to Cape Town City. 8 of their last 10 PSL matches have had 2 goals or less in them.

These sides drew the reverse fixture 1-1 all at Bloem Celtic.

Chippa United 33/20

Draw 2/1

Bloem Celtic 2/1

Suggested Bet: Chippa United win at 33/20

Chippa are in reasonable form and are desperate for points and I think they can take a step towards safety with all 3 points here.

Under 2.5 goals is trading predictably short at 9/20 and if I do add anything here it will be a correct score, prediction of 1-0 to Chippa United at 5/1.
