BettingDiaryThe Proteas are back in action after a long break when they take on England in the first of 3 T20 Internationals at Newlands on Friday and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.

Let’s start with a look at the series betting where we have South Africa trading at 13/10 and England at 6/10, there are also Top England and Top South Africa Batsman and Bowler Markets as well as the Series Correct Score Markets with England to win 2-1 is the favourite at 15/10.

Newlands will certainly have a strange feel to it as this match will be played behind closed doors something the English team are used to having a number of matches under COVID regulations earlier this year.

South African haven't been in T20 action since February of this year when they lost a 3 match T20 series 2-1 to Australia and earlier in the year England were also out here beating the Proteas 2-1.

As mentioned above England have had some action and they beat Australia 2-1 at home in a T20 series in September and also drew a 3 match series with Pakistan with weather playing a role in that one.

The South African squad will be led by Quinton de Kock and the extended squad named has a number of young, up and coming players in it. Eoin Morgan will captain England and they go into this Series as deserved favourites.

Newlands may be a happy hunting ground for South Africa as far as Test Cricket goes, but they battled here with T20’s winning just 4 of 11 games with 1 tie. That being said, 2 of those victories came against England.

South Africa 13/10

England 13/20

Suggested Bet: 1st Innings score under 170.5 at 17/20

I am basing this on the fact that both teams could be a bit rusty and both sets of bowling line-ups also look very strong.

Suggested Bet: Batsman Total Match 4’s, Quinton de Kock, Over 2.5 4’s at 8/10

I will be looking for the skipper to lead from the front here and if he stays at the crease for any length of time he should have no problem scoring with three 4’s we require to collect on this bet.
